High expectations, huge disappointment: inadequate service and a sky-high bill.
Lured by the fame of this renowned seafood restaurant in the heart of Rome, I booked a dinner with the highest expectations. Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be profoundly different from my expectations.
The food was decent, but not exceptional. The fish is undoubtedly fresh and the ingredients are there, but the dishes lack the spark of personality one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Good, yes, but absolutely ordinary.
The service was the real Achilles heel of the evening; to call it terrible would be generous. The wait was biblical, even just to order, and the staff was inattentive, rushed, and lacked professionalism. In a restaurant with this name, the welcome and customer service should be impeccable.
The bill was steep and unjustified. Paying high prices for haute cuisine is a pleasure if the experience is complete, but here the quality-price ratio is completely unbalanced.

The "SOUTE`" at the modest price of 33 euros should at least be spelled correctly, that is: "SAUTÉ". MICHELIN also notes these details and you can dream of a star.

Excellent fresh seafood. Staff didn’t speak English well but the food is incredible. I would go again.

For those who don't want the usual carbonara and matriciana, but instead want delicious seafood dishes in an elegant setting! Generous portions and attentive service. Five minutes from Piazza Navona.

San Lorenzo: a guarantee that never disappoints
San Lorenzo is always San Lorenzo.
One of those places that, over time, not only confirms expectations, but strengthens them.
I've been coming here for years, and the feeling is always the same: you can never go wrong here.
The strong point, beyond a broad and high-quality menu, is undoubtedly the service. True service, based on professionalism, discretion, and perfect timing. From the welcome to the dining room, everything is handled with confidence and attention, under elegant and never intrusive guidance.
The quality of the fish is evident from the moment you enter: the open kitchen and the products on display speak for themselves. And when the ingredients are like this, the result is bound to be excellent: well-executed, clean dishes, respectful of the ingredients. It's no coincidence that it's considered one of Rome's top seafood restaurants, precisely because of its freshness and meticulous preparation.
The quality/price ratio is consistent with the level of service offered: not cheap, but absolutely justified by the overall experience. The restaurant is always well-attended and often full, a clear sign of a reputation built steadily over the years. Reservations are therefore almost a must.
And then there's an interesting aspect: it doesn't have a Michelin star, despite being listed in the guides and recognized as one of the best seafood restaurants in the city. But perhaps this is precisely its balance: remaining true to itself, without chasing trends or labels.
👉 A restaurant that represents a certainty. The kind that, over time, becomes habit... and then tradition.
