It's located not far from the train station but also from the city center.
The dining room is large and bright, which is a nice touch in the summer, as the tables aren't crowded together like in many other places, allowing you to eat comfortably. The bathrooms are reasonably clean. The menu is extensive; in addition to seafood, meat, and pizza, there are delicious desserts like homemade tiramisu, as well as the famous Neapolitan lobster tail, a very tasty dessert but unfortunately only available on weekends.
The fish and fried foods are also worth a try. A positive thing is that they even bring a towel to the table for cleaning yourself after eating fish, which is commendable because many restaurants don't offer one. However, the quality of the truly undrinkable bulk wine could be improved, and the local wine list could also be improved, which needs to be reviewed and expanded. The bread served was practically hard, a sign that it wasn't fresh; I hope it was just a temporary oversight. With a little care, it could become an excellent restaurant.
If you're in the area, dinner is served. The prices are high, but you can't escape the area. Easy parking in the area, but you have to pay. Worth a try. I recommend the fish dishes, but the pizza is also good.

This restaurant is run by a Neapolitan chef and has a wide selection of seafood dishes. The pizzas are so big they overflow the plate, even two people can't finish them. They're baked crispy in a special pizza oven. They also have a wide selection of desserts. The house wine is very tasty and reasonably priced. I've been there twice. I highly recommend it. If I ever come to Bologna again, I'll definitely come here! It was delicious. Thank you.

I went here with my mom for lunch!
Huge location, air-conditioned, and with rustic ceilings.
I had seafood risotto, which was really good and a generous portion, and to keep it light, a green salad.
I highly recommend this place.
Prices are in line with Bologna.
The staff is friendly and always smiling.

It was okay… we expected more, it could have been better. Coke Zero was on par with other restaurants.

Il Pirata del Porto: the pasta was a bit of a challenge, but the sauce was a real treat
A Pearl of the Sea in the Heart of Bologna
I had the opportunity to dine at the "Il Pirata del Porto" restaurant in Bologna, and the experience was overwhelmingly positive. The atmosphere is welcoming and the service courteous, making my stay immediately enjoyable.
For my lunch, I opted for a classic, spaghetti allo scoglio, accompanied by water and coffee, for a final bill of €22.50. The portion was generous, and above all, the sauce was remarkable: a truly rich, flavorful seafood dish that fully met my expectations. Octopus, mussels, clams, shrimp, and even lobster blended together in a well-balanced sauce, making every bite a true pleasure.
If I really had to find a small criticism, it was the pasta itself. While not bad, I found it slightly overcooked, lacking the perfect al dente consistency that best enhances a dish of this type. This is a minor sin, but it detracted from the overall experience.
Overall, "Il Pirata del Porto" remains an excellent choice for those looking to enjoy quality seafood in Bologna. With a little improvement in the cooking of the pasta, the dish would have been truly perfect.

We spent a few days in Bologna and it was undoubtedly the best pizza we've ever had, cooked in a wood-fired oven. It's worth getting away from the city center and the more tourist-oriented places to find a typical Italian restaurant with delicious food and excellent service from the staff.

A great discovery in Bologna. We really enjoyed the food (both the tagliatelle and the meat and pizza, which we tried one of each), the location is spacious and very pleasant, the staff is friendly, the price is reasonable, and something very important: it closes very late, after midnight, making it the ideal option if you happen to arrive in Bologna late and need dinner. It's also very close to the train station. We'll definitely be back!
