The hotel is a little old in terms of furnishings but it is clean and the service is excellent. We had a good time in the restaurant with typical and very good dishes. The service is excellent.

excellent food, rooms a little old but excellent hospitality from Antonella typical of towns like this in Tuscany, I don't understand the negative reviews, on the other hand the hotel is cheap and in any case in an excellent location in the town.

We did not stay at the hotel. The food at Da Carlino was typical Garfagnana fare and very good. Service for us "un po" Italiano speaking patrons was gracious. One wait staff for the restaurant on a Wednesday evening was a bit rough. But we are none the worse. We are staying at another hotel in Castelnuovo currently, but if we wanted to explore the town on foot, the location is perfect.

Yesterday Easter day, with a reservation, we went to Carlino and were really satisfied with the very kind and competent staff. The menu was full of dishes which arrived nice and hot with the right waiting times for us. Among other things, the dishes were offered several times. Considering the day of celebration and the well-assorted menu, the price for us was more than excellent. We'll do an encore soon! Berti family from Viareggio.

25/07/2025: A refuge with a taste of times gone by. Good food and vegetarian options for every course. Comfortable dorm beds.
19/07/2025: Refuge with bar and restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating, playground equipment for children and animals. Helpful and friendly staff. The food is good; the only drawback is that the selection of cakes is too limited; let's say a jam tart would be a must in a refuge.
