We did not stay at the hotel. The food at Da Carlino was typical Garfagnana fare and very good. Service for us "un po" Italiano speaking patrons was gracious. One wait staff for the restaurant on a Wednesday evening was a bit rough. But we are none the worse. We are staying at another hotel in Castelnuovo currently, but if we wanted to explore the town on foot, the location is perfect.

Yesterday Easter day, with a reservation, we went to Carlino and were really satisfied with the very kind and competent staff. The menu was full of dishes which arrived nice and hot with the right waiting times for us. Among other things, the dishes were offered several times. Considering the day of celebration and the well-assorted menu, the price for us was more than excellent. We'll do an encore soon! Berti family from Viareggio.

I've only been for lunch, local cuisine, good raw materials, perhaps a little bit of energy is missing in the dishes, but still good. Kind and helpful staff, normal prices.

I had a birthday party here, the food was delicious, and the staff was friendly! We ate well, spent little and were also offered an aperitif, highly recommended.
