08/02/2026: Excellent atmosphere in this mountain refuge, accessible by car in the summer and only on foot or skis in the winter. The refuge is open year-round.
In winter, access is via the snow-covered summer road, which is never steep (4.5 km / 450 m elevation gain). Simple shoes are sufficient, perhaps with mini-crampons.
The location is magnificent, the atmosphere fantastic, and the food excellent. You might even run into Bepe, the iconic owner, mentioned by Sylvain Tesson in his book "Blanc".
(As a bonus, there's also a wellness area with a sauna and jacuzzi, also open in winter).
18/01/2026: This refuge is beautiful and very welcoming. In winter, it can only be reached by snowshoes, and it's a fairly challenging hike, taking 90 minutes to two hours depending on the level of walking, as it's about 5 km long with a 380 m elevation gain. The climb is doable but challenging, but it's worth it with a warm mountain atmosphere and an excellent dinner. We had a platter of local products, including cheeses paired with jams and local produce. The three-flavor polenta was truly excellent, and the Modica wine was also good.
