From the first moment, we were greeted with rare kindness: the owners immediately made us feel at home, with that simplicity and warmth that make all the difference. We had thought about having an appetizer and a steak, but one of the owners recommended we try only their Marchigiana, raised in San Giorgio del Sannio. And thank goodness we trusted him... it's truly poetic! 🥩Tender, tasty, cooked to perfection: a flavor that speaks volumes about the quality of the ingredients and the passion of those who prepare them. But the surprise doesn't end there: a splendid cellar holds precious wines, a little corner of paradise for those who love good wine. We accompanied our lunch with an excellent glass of wine 🍷, enjoying every moment. And then a little detail that we really appreciated: no Wi-Fi. A detail that invites you to truly unplug, talk, smile, and enjoy the pleasure of dining without distractions. If you pass by Padre Pio, stop by "C'era una Volta": you'll find excellent food, a sincere welcome, and people who do their job with all their heart. A pleasant discovery, with polite and professional staff, fresh appetizers, truly delicious pasta, and excellent meat. A restaurant that doesn't force you to eat a tourist menu, so you can choose what you want. Everything is fresh and delicious. Definitely worth returning.

Found through a trustworthy word of mouth, and they weren't lying. Excellent food, friendly and welcoming, and a constant but discreet presence from all the staff. They recommend local produce without pushing you too far. What can I say? Excellent overall, and oh yes, the price is also great! I can only recommend it! It's right in the historic center, you can't go wrong!

In the magical and spiritual village of Pietrelcina, we discovered this family-run trattoria, with a refined atmosphere and excellent food. We had the pleasure of meeting and being served by Antonio, a thoughtful man who offers excellent advice on the dishes...a truly lovely place. Highly recommended.

Excellent experience at the "C'era una volta" restaurant in Pietrelcina. Perfect location just a few meters from the church. Angelo, the owner, and his staff were friendly, kind, and professional. Extensive menu. Varied appetizers with cured meats, cheeses, and a few surprises: polenta with mushrooms and a stuffed artichoke, and escarole served with capers (a delicacy). Generous first courses: ravioli with tomato sauce, gnocchi with cherry tomatoes and burrata. We didn't order second courses because the portions were generous. We ordered another stuffed artichoke. Everything was excellent. Recommended.
