The best orecchiette cime di rapa I've ever tasted! You should also try the Basilicata specialty: peperone crusco. These are dried and fried peppers, a real treat as an appetizer! However, the tiramisu isn't the best; we don't particularly recommend it.

This was our second time in Matera on holiday and we accidentally discovered this excellent restaurant, offering remarkable local products and a varied menu. A little gem in the heart of Matera's Sassi: the bistro's atmosphere is warm and inviting, with modern touches while remaining rooted in local tradition. The service is very pleasant, attentive, and friendly.
As for the food: beautiful, typical dishes, such as orecchiette or cavatelli with bold flavors (the famous "peperone crusco," etc.), are truly excellent. The setting, with a partial view of the Sassi, adds to its charm. I highly recommend Giù a Sud for an authentic and refined meal in Matera.

Interesting typical food. Melted cheese was really tasty. We ordered just 4 starters instead of main courses and they were fine with that.

On Sunday we went to lunch at this restaurant, a casual, youthful, and well-maintained place. The food was truly good. And the service was impeccable. Special thanks to the waiters Margherita and Giuseppe, who truly made us feel at home. These two gentlemen from Rome, followers of Carrà, are truly Carrà.
