Excellent dishes, excellent service, a place worth visiting when dining within the Walls of Lucca.

The food here was excellent. It’s just slightly off the beaten path and was recommended to us by a local. The pasta was outstanding and we really enjoyed each dish throughout the evening. The service was also great - welcoming and helpful. We would definitely come back here again.

Antica Locanda dell'Angelo is a must-see for anyone visiting Lucca. Located just steps from Piazza San Michele, it is one of the city's historic restaurants. Its origins date back to the 15th century, and today it offers traditional Tuscan cuisine enriched with pleasant Sicilian influences introduced by the Cipolla family, who have run it for many years. Among its features are the elegant historic interior rooms and the delightful outdoor terrace, ideal for lunch or dinner during the summer. The portions are generous, carefully presented, and accompanied by a wide selection of wines. The staff stands out for their kindness, friendliness, and ability to explain the dishes with expertise and passion. Special thanks to Mr. Vito, an excellent host, always attentive to the tables and the well-being of his guests. Highly recommended!

We had a very pleasant evening... between the venue, the service, and the fantastic dinner. The owner was also omnipresent with all customers for questions and service.

We were referred to Antica Locanda by a local and lucky to get an early reservation in the courtyard. The atmosphere was refined and welcoming with friendly and attentive service by Vito and his team. The food was outstanding and the fish we ordered was extremely fresh and cooked to perfection. The duck agnolotti with pumpkin sauce was memorable as was the sorbet trio. Some of the best I’ve had. We were so engrossed in our meal I forgot to take pictures until dessert!

Every time we are in Lucca we make sure to have dinner at Antica Locanda dell'Angelo. This is a very elegant restaurant located in the historic center with amazing food and a wonderfully kind, welcoming staff. The food they prepare is a fresh and delicious interpretation of traditional Luccese fare. We have been welcomed back by Vito and Stefania on every occasion and we have never been disappointed.
