Al Bacio Restaurant In Malcesine

Top location. The food was very tasty, the main course a bit underseasoned (for my personal taste), but overall it was very tasty.

Al Bacio is a superb restaurant in an outstanding hotel. A family-run business where quality is paramount: not only in the ingredients of the dishes, but also in the quality of the service! We spent two wonderful weeks at the hotel and ate there often because it was so delicious and offered regional dishes. Eating the entire menu is absolutely possible here! Also, be sure to try the tiramisu – delicious. The fantastic view over the lake is also free. We've been to the hotel and restaurant many times and always enjoy coming back. Dogs are allowed – great for our four-legged friends. Overall, 10/10!

During our summer vacation on Lake Garda, we visited the "al Bacio" restaurant in Malcesine, located directly on the promenade and part of the Castello Lake Front Hotel. The location and ambiance are truly impressive – the terrace overlooking the lake is stunning and leaves nothing to be desired. Unfortunately, the rest of the visit didn't live up to the expectations the restaurant was trying to convey. Upon opening the menu, we noticed the note that the restaurant is "not a typical tourist restaurant." This seemed unnecessarily judgmental and slightly off-putting to us, especially since the restaurant actually relies heavily on tourism. The food was okay, solid in terms of taste, but not a culinary highlight. The service, unfortunately, didn't match the upscale impression of the restaurant: The cutlery was swapped in a rather improvised manner, and for drinks, we received an open bottle of a Munich beer, served with a glass of a different brand. We were particularly negatively struck by the distance the staff felt towards the guests. You had the feeling you were being treated more like a "normal tourist," which made the experience impersonal and uninviting. The price was still reasonable, but for us, the value for money didn't match the overall impression. Conclusion: If you want to enjoy the stunning location and view, this is the place for you. However, if you value friendly, personal service and a harmonious culinary experience, you will be disappointed. We won't be visiting "al Bacio" again.

Absolutely fantastic Italian cuisine. We had two courses and a bottle of wine. Fantastic view of the lake, extremely friendly service. Highly recommended. We would eat there again anytime if we were back in Malcesine.

Delicious food and incredible views

A lovely dinner for a family. Parents very satisfied with the local dishes…especially the trout starter. Teenagers more than happy with the steak and pasta choices. A beautiful lakeside location and very friendly and attentive waiter.

Fantastic location and food. The service could be improved; it almost felt like a burden to be there. But otherwise, it's totally worth it.

We came here twice. First time everything was perfect, two friendly waiters and good food along with perfect service. Hence we returned and were utterly disappointed with the indifferent service we received. This was a different waiter, the two friendly ones were busy at other tables. Muscles as a starter were tasty. Service was in a style that we should please leave as soon as possible. Which we did. Never to return, there are many other places to go to in Malcesine with fantastic service and high quality food including a better wine list.
