A stop on our trip led us to discover this truly characteristic and unique restaurant in Lanciano.
We enjoyed Abruzzo appetizers with flavors we no longer taste, followed by a first course featuring a truly delicious handmade Abruzzo pasta called Rintrocilo.
The wine paired excellently with everything else. We even managed to get a sample of this wine to taste at home.
The presence of the truly friendly and amiable restaurant manager was also very helpful.

Excellent food in a quaint local setting.
The service leaves much to be desired, with very long wait times because the very friendly chef has to take care of everything: taking orders, managing the dining room despite the presence of a waiter, and cooking.
The restaurant is not suitable for children when fully booked, despite the limited seating (6/7) due to the limited waiting time.

The first courses were excellent: gnocchi with borage and ricotta, cod mezzelune (half-moons) and guinea fowl tortelli. Everyone was very friendly and the place was lovely. The prices were fair.

Lunch on Saturday. Walked in and we were the only Americans there. They quickly seated us in the last 2 top. Taverna was full. Knew it would be good. We ordered water and wine. Then the appetizer of meatballs accompanied with potatoes and cauliflower. The Ragu was amazing. Next came the gnocchi and peci to share. Then the Nona that was cooking and taking charge brought over a sampling of spaghetti with truffles. Everything was marvelous. Stepped up to pay and the owner who spoke some English talked with us for 15 minutes, wondering how we had found the taverna and where we had been where we were going, etc..Truely a great restaurant,
