Honestly, it was a bit of a disappointment; I was also expecting some fried food...after all, it's still just a simple aperitivo, since they close at 10 pm.

They have a large parking lot and are also suitable for disabled people since there are no steps. As soon as you enter, it feels like you've gone back in time. A welcoming and intimate place with a lit fireplace that frames the dining room like in a painting. The trattoria has two rooms, one small and one large. Attention to small details is taken and, most importantly, it is spotlessly clean. The kitchen is impeccable. The raw materials, from vegetables to meat, are almost 0 km, all local products. Here you will find delicacies such as risotto, bigoli, gnocchi, tortelli, and then meat from wild boar to sliced ​​guinea fowl and duck and cod, and then vegetables, radicchio, cabbage, mushrooms, etc., all fresh products. We are located in the heart of the Euganean Hills, where you can breathe good air in the summer and you can eat outside in a relaxing environment without the stress of the city. It is a corner of paradise. Then there are various types of wine and what can we say about the oil produced by Lidio's sister Pierangela with the Valnogaredo oil mill, from harvesting to processing the olives and The oil is amazing. I have to say that I gave Lidio, the boss, and all his staff a 5 ⭐ because there were no better people for your professionalism and competence in making the customer feel at home. I highly recommend it.

29/07/2026: Let's start at the bottom. We were offered breakfast. A truly meaningful gesture, as it wasn't a response to a request. Furthermore, we were "accidental" guests (we came for a nearby concert), meaning those who are unlikely to return to the area (400 km from home). But that's just the icing on the cake. A comfortable room with a clean, tidy bathroom and everything you need. A fair price. It's a shame we didn't have more time to try the restaurant (it's quite inspiring!). The surrounding area is beautiful, with vineyards (there are many wineries). What can I say? Today we have a destination for a future vacation, and it wasn't the complimentary breakfast that convinced us.

18/07/2026: This is the second time I've been to Trattoria Al Rio. It didn't disappoint me. Bigoli seasoned with ragù and aromatic herbs. Delicious. A typical hillside restaurant. A great summer spot. I recommend it if you're spending a day in the hills.

We're perhaps not the most sophisticated reviewers when it comes to food: we're not great foodies, and for us, eating is above all a simple pleasure, not a religion. However, we can say that we found everything very good, carefully prepared, and served in absolutely adequate portions. La Tavernetta might seem, at first glance, a bit "pretentious," but I use this word in its truest sense: you can sense the research, the attention to detail, the desire to do well and continually improve. And personally, I prefer a place with this ambition to one that's content to simply do its job without ever questioning itself. Finally, a note on prices, since reading some reviews, this seems to be one of the most controversial aspects. The menu clearly lists these prices, so everyone can decide before ordering whether they're compatible with their budget. Criticizing a price you knew in advance seems unfair to the restaurant. Fortunately, we chose not to be influenced by these criticisms. We had a wonderful evening and went home satisfied. And that, in the end, is what matters most.
