Its fame spans all backgrounds, cultures, education, and age. I can say that Fappani was already famous, well-known, even when they used to accompany me to the beach equipped with a bucket and spade. I must add that I'm approaching 70. If Fappani has been appreciated by so many people throughout this time, it means that in its establishments it has offered a high level of hospitality, serving cuisine, pastries, ice cream, and beverages, both homemade and supplied by reliable suppliers. Fappani has added discreet professionalism and delicate attention, interpreting the passing of time and the expectations of Viareggio's patrons and of Cafe Fappani. Finally, I would like to highlight the rice puddings, offered in customized and original versions, which rightfully earn Fappani's place among the region's most popular pastry shops for this type of pastry.

Located in the heart of Viareggio's Passeggiata, Café Fappani overlooks Piazza Mazzini on one side and the sea on the other. This is why I'm giving this place 5 stars for its ambiance: in terms of location and view, it's hard to find a better one. As for the food, I'm evaluating what I've personally tried: breakfast and afternoon snacks. Some things, like the croissants, seem absolutely fresh, while others, like the savory items, seem like reheated leftovers from the day before. I'd like to give a positive point to the coffee shop, because the young man who worked there on the various occasions I've tried this place has always made excellent coffees and milky drinks. Now comes the problem... the staff... If you're looking for kindness, smiles, and humility, you've come to the wrong place. The owner/proprietor is well known for the way he treats his employees; he yells and speaks rudely to people. I'd also like to point out to anyone who visits this place that the table service in the afternoon, in the glass-fronted dining room, is just an excuse to probably try to earn a little extra money. The dining room was completely empty, and so was the rest of the place. A young man in his thirties, not wearing any kind of uniform (very unhygienic in my opinion), says that if you sit in that room, you'll get table service. We sit down. The young man comes to the table. We ask for two focaccias with cold cuts that we read on the menu, and two drinks: a water and a latte macchiato. He says he doesn't know if they're left. He tells us to get up and go check the counter. Madness. A customer has to pay for table service and also has to get up to go check what's left in the display case. We didn't even have time to eat as calmly as I would have liked before we got up to leave. I don't even want to comment on the completely fabricated prices for both the food and beverages. Not to mention the fact that the same person they send to clean the bathrooms is the same person who comes back behind the coffee shop counter... I'll just give you one piece of advice if you're thinking of going to this bar: don't go there and spend your money elsewhere.

20/09/2025: A restaurant surrounded by greenery where good food reigns supreme. Professional service with a touch of lightheartedness makes it even more appealing. The desserts and pizzas are excellent.

15/08/2025: A very cute place nestled in the greenery of the Torre del Lago pine forest. Fast and friendly service. The tordelli with ragù are simply fantastic, and the pizzas are also very good. Easy to digest and crispy dough. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the dishes, which are truly worthy. Recommended!

21/10/2025: The food isn't bad, but we were disappointed in a few ways: 1. No paper menu, so you order what the waitress recommends without knowing the prices 2. High prices, only acceptable with the 50% The Fork discount 3. Small portions 4. Lack of coordination in food delivery, we ate in shifts 5. No POS 6. Bathrooms without paper towels

26/11/2025: Nice place! The owners are kind, helpful and courteous. The food is out of this world. The fish is good and fresh. Even though it was the beginning of the week, I recommend it.

16/11/2025: We went today, despite it being a Sunday in very low season. The fish was incredibly fresh, the fried fish was a work of art. The owners were very kind. The atmosphere was meticulously cared for down to the smallest details.

22/09/2025: Tiger mosquitoes everywhere, please don't go there. The bungalows aren't safe. Some have mold.

06/09/2025: I was refused a place at a campsite because I went to a nearby one to compare prices. I wish the owner would read the reviews and fire the staff.

22/09/2025: Service: The wine we wanted to drink, which the staff said was a great decision, wasn't available. The bottle that we then ordered was brought to us open, but we couldn't even test it first, so we had to pour the first glass ourselves. The waiter had problems speaking english and was not flexible at all with the dish selection, since many dishes weren't available. We had to pay inside at the register, so with all that in mind, why does one have to pay cover charge? Food: The mozarella in the caprese salad was very jewy and the olive oil and aceto balsamico came in plastic bags, again why cover charge? The fish was okay but bland. The gnocchi were mushy and the shrimp sauce tasted frozen with a weird rotten fish aftertaste. Also the shrimps were cut open and there were scissors of other sea animals in the dish. We had to return it because it was inedible.

19/09/2025: Fish dishes have an unpleasant smell and terrible flavor. The only redeeming feature is the service.

07/09/2025: Honest gelato. The texture is a bit hollow and granular, but the flavor, though simple, is there. It costs only €2.50.

28/10/2025: A very satisfying experience!! The spaghetti allo scoglio was AMAZING! The staff were incredibly friendly.
