07/03/2026: We often order Carbonara here, this time it was so so salty that I can’t take it, very disappointed as it was really good before 😖. Pity!!! Schnitzel is good at least.
06/03/2026: Very welcoming, friendly owners.... helpful dining room staff... but the food was nothing special... rubbery mixed fried fish... I was served a zuppa inglese with a really dry side (obviously I left it on the plate and the waitress noticed it "she could have removed it before serving it) the place with the previous owner, the legendary "Mirella", certainly had an edge in terms of the quality of the cuisine and the pizzeria....

It's a welcoming place where the owners' experience shines through in every bite, making it a must-try for anyone in the area. Given the quality of the pizza and the restaurant's longstanding reputation, the main risk is not finding a table; we recommend arriving early to avoid missing out.

11/11/2025: Visiting Il Peperoncino felt like discovering a hidden gem tucked just a few steps from the bustle around the Leaning Tower. From the moment I walked in, the staff welcomed me with genuine warmth, setting the tone for a memorable evening. The décor is relaxed, cosy and effortlessly charming — the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable unwinding after walking the cobbled streets of Pisa.
The menu honours Tuscan and Italian traditions without resorting to tourist-trap clichés. I sampled the pasta with truffle and sausage (the famed “picci alla norcina”) and was struck by how boldly earthy yet perfectly balanced it was. The pizza was fresh, the seafood spaghetti generous and unpretentious, and the house wine poured nicely. Portions were satisfying and pricing pleasantly fair for such quality. Many fellow travellers praise the welcoming service and attention to detail.
If there’s a downside, it would be that, because of its proximity to the major attraction, bookings are wise—this place fills up. But that also means the high standard is not accidental. In short: if you’re in Pisa and want to dine somewhere authentic, friendly and delicious, Il Peperoncino is very hard to beat.

31/08/2025: Nothing to say about the food and pizza. The problem is if you complain about the wait or if they serve their friends or acquaintances first and point it out... then it's not good... the young waitress doesn't serve you and sends her mother or aunt! For me, that's disrespectful.
