Visiting Il Peperoncino felt like discovering a hidden gem tucked just a few steps from the bustle around the Leaning Tower. From the moment I walked in, the staff welcomed me with genuine warmth, setting the tone for a memorable evening. The décor is relaxed, cosy and effortlessly charming — the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable unwinding after walking the cobbled streets of Pisa. The menu honours Tuscan and Italian traditions without resorting to tourist-trap clichés. I sampled the pasta with truffle and sausage (the famed “picci alla norcina”) and was struck by how boldly earthy yet perfectly balanced it was. The pizza was fresh, the seafood spaghetti generous and unpretentious, and the house wine poured nicely. Portions were satisfying and pricing pleasantly fair for such quality. Many fellow travellers praise the welcoming service and attention to detail. If there’s a downside, it would be that, because of its proximity to the major attraction, bookings are wise—this place fills up. But that also means the high standard is not accidental. In short: if you’re in Pisa and want to dine somewhere authentic, friendly and delicious, Il Peperoncino is very hard to beat.

Good pizza and also home delivery

Really very good pizzas with the only flaw being that they have a little less toppings for the medium one.
