27/02/2026: I spent a few days at Le Marmotte in Acceglio with a CAI group from Bergamo. I returned this evening and want to write about this wonderful experience right away: the welcome was warm from the moment we arrived, albeit a bit hectic. The service was impeccable, the food was excellent, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The hotel is located in the quiet of a pristine valley, and transportation to the starting point of our snowshoe hikes was provided by Sherpabus, with very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable local drivers. 25/02/2026: A simple yet elegant atmosphere with a wonderful fireplace.
The beers were excellent and varied.
We ate some good dishes (salted meat, gnocchi, goulash, and panna cotta) at reasonable prices.
A must-visit if you're in the Maira Valley.
11/10/2025: We stopped by for a craft beer after a long, beautiful hike in the upper Maira Valley. 🥰 The girl who served us was super kind and helpful, and let us try some unusual beers. The beers were very good, as was the cheese platter we chose to accompany our drinks. We even bought a few bottles to try at home. Congratulations!

30/01/2026: We spent two nights there during a ski touring trip. The setting was magnificent, the welcome very friendly, the meals excellent with good Italian cuisine, the picnic very generous, and the shared bathroom very comfortable.
06/01/2026: A welcoming restaurant. The owner, Rolando, is an excellent cook, his wife is knowledgeable about all the ski mountaineering routes in the area, and Gaia is incredibly kind with her smile.
Excellent cuisine and very fair prices.

05/09/2025: Avoid this place if you're looking for more than just a nice room. The staff are unpleasant and completely inattentive. Breakfast is basic, very limited, and the coffee is undrinkable.
Dinner is the same story with the staff's attitude. The portions are ridiculously small and overly salty, and the price is outrageous.

The food was disappointing and of poor quality, unlike the attention to organic and seasonal ingredients praised on their website. Unfortunately, I didn't use the sauna because I'm a naturist, a fact I didn't express. The owner was neither empathetic nor welcoming.

10/02/2025: Ottima esperienza, struttura ristrutturata con molta cura,locali accoglienti e ordinati, camere molto belle e curate(tutto inserito in un paesaggio splendido), ottima cucina con ampia selezione di vini. Personale attento e gentile. Fabrizio, il titolare, è disponibile e prodigo di consigli per escursioni nei dintorni.

19/08/2025: €6.40 for two cans of Coke seems excessive to me. This isn't a mountain refuge within walking distance that's difficult for the managers to supply, but a bar that's easily accessible. When they say "we work two months a year," you can't help but be fooled. This doesn't justify the price hike. Remember, second-time customers don't come back.
18/08/2025: We stayed three nights last weekend, the Ferragosto (August 15th) weekend.
Hospitality: Family-run, not their first job, but the staff and owner were very kind, helpful, and welcoming.
Rooms: Renovated and authentic; the ground-floor one was dim, but we liked it. Reclaimed rustic furniture and handcrafted details were used in the renovation.
Breakfast: Savory and sweet, locally sourced options.
Dinner: Excellent, portions just right for a complete dinner including appetizer, first course, second course, and dessert. Polenta evening with various sauces was top!
Location: Excellent for exploring various hiking trails without using the car.
We returned home very satisfied!
P.S.: Our opinion remains unchanged, but I recommend staying no later than 1am for the next Ferragosto (August 15th) celebration (2026). Partying is great, but blasting music until 3:30 was more enjoyable for the valley residents than for their guests.
