23/10/2025: The restaurant is found upon entering through Porta Trapani. At the door, a kind gentleman provides information on the complicated parking procedures (only one parking spot works with cards and debit cards). Gratefully, we decide to go in. Friendly staff, delicious arancini al burro, and a delicious Genovese for dessert. Fair prices.

05/04/2026: I loved my visit to Osteria di Venere! 🤩 The location in the heart of Erice is fantastic, and the dishes were simply amazing. 🍝 The staff was incredibly friendly and made the experience truly enjoyable. 😊
15/03/2026: A traditional osteria with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Very kind and attentive staff. Delicious food. I had the purple gnocchi with caciocavallo cheese and pistachios. They were superb. I highly recommend it.

24/10/2025: La Prima Dea in Erice was such a lovely surprise. The food was beautiful, full of genuine Sicilian flavour, and made with top-quality local ingredients. The olive oil was honestly the best I’ve ever tasted — I could have happily eaten it on its own! What really stood out was the hospitality. The waiters weren’t pushy or trying to grab tourists’ attention like you often see elsewhere; they were genuinely proud of the amazing food they serve. Service was super quick too, which made it perfect for a relaxed but efficient lunch. We tried the arancini, pane cunzato and panino — all absolutely delicious. And the friendly chap outside, calling people in with his charming Italian accent, really made my day. La Prima Dea is one of those places that reminds you what good food and genuine warmth are all about. Highly recommended!
19/10/2025: We had the aubergine pasta and fish cous cous and both were amazing. We’ve had fish couscous somewhere else before and thought this was even better!

13/04/2026: In Erice, you simply have to let yourself wander. One cobbled alley leads to another, the stones whisper tales of centuries past, and suddenly, around the corner of an ancient archway, the Ristorante Monte San Giuliano appears. The arrival feels almost staged, as if the place seamlessly blends into the village, without a break in the flow. Inside, the decor reinforces this impression of authenticity. Old photographs, hanging tools, exposed beams. A raw, sincere Sicily, not trying to seduce, but simply to be. And yet, a slight dissonance is palpable. The overall effect, while pleasant and deeply rooted in local aesthetics, evokes a traditional osteria more than a ristorante in the most demanding sense of the term. The setting is just right, but it doesn't quite live up to the implicit promise of that designation. On the other hand, the service and presentation are excellent and restore the expected balance. The menu is short and unpretentious, which is often a good sign. However, it lacks explanations, especially for dishes that are typically Sicilian. The uninitiated traveler navigates by guesswork, which can be charming… or risky. We chose the Polpette San Giuliano, a local specialty closely linked to the history of Erice, formerly Monte San Giuliano. The breaded crust was well-executed, golden brown, but the interior, left a mystery due to the lack of explanation, proved disappointing. The filling was undercooked, leaving an unsettling sensation of barely seared meat. The sauce, which could have elevated the dish, was cold, almost bland, accompanied by mushrooms that were clearly canned, lacking texture and depth. In such a bountiful region, this choice is surprising. This dish, steeped in history and symbolism, deserved impeccable execution. The pasta partially redeemed the experience. The Paccheri with Sicilian sausage, lightly flavored with anise, accompanied by eggplant and tomato, were well-balanced and pleasant, but lacked the intensity that leaves a lasting impression. The Busiate, a regional specialty, suffered from being overcooked, losing in texture what they should have offered in character. Again, the dish was good, but remained superficial. Finally, one detail breaks the immersion: the music. Too generic, too contemporary. It acts as background noise disconnected from the place, as if another era had intruded uninvited. In a village seemingly suspended outside of time, this creates a slight jarring note. Monte San Giuliano is a genuine establishment, enhanced by an authentic setting and service befitting its status. But the food itself is inconsistent. It's not without merit, but it doesn't always fully embody the history and richness it purports to represent. And in a place like Erice, where everything seems full of meaning, this is immediately felt.
22/03/2026: It’s not obvious from the street to find it, just the name on a brown door. Inside it’s inviting, and comfortable. Our server was attentive, and very helpful on a cold drizzly day. The Sicilian dishes we ate were delicious!

11/04/2026: Unfortunately, I highly do not recommend this place, both in terms of price and quality. The ice cream is old, dried out, and disgusting. For the first time in my life, I threw an entire ice cream cone in the trash. The owners are very dishonest. They target tourists and only want to profit from them, but in a dishonest way.

04/04/2026: Unlike the downtown places, this place has a real Italian atmosphere. Our host recommended it and he was right. The bus dropped us off nearby. The staff was very nice and fast and we arrived on a Saturday evening. The food is very good.

Ristorante Hotel Moderno

02/10/2025: Old hotel with minimal rooms and dated furnishings. Excellent location in the restricted traffic zone. The lady who runs it is courteous and attentive. Be careful about staying in the restaurant for dinner; prices are far too high for the portions.
14/09/2025: It seems to me that many of the reviews are derogatory. Or they refer to before the renovations, which took place around 2023 or 2024. What is certain is that the Hotel Moderno is now highly recommended. The rooms and bathrooms are furnished to a four-star standard. The restaurant has an enchanting view, both day and night; the menu is basic, but chef Baldo executes it very well. The wine and spirits list is basic but well-chosen, and we found the bulk white wine to be very respectable. The staff is friendly but discreet, the lobby is cozy and welcoming, and the background music is relaxing. Anyone who writes that parking in Erice is difficult and expensive either misunderstands or is not acting in good faith; for €12, you can park for a week in various parking lots. Erice is a medieval village, offering superb views, a pleasant climate, a relaxing atmosphere, and traditional cuisine and pastry shops that offer good value.

18/07/2025: Pizza gustosissima, impasto eccezionale, rapporto qualità prezzo ottima, camerieri giovani e simpatici, proprietaria dolcissima consiglio a tutti di passare da qui se si vuole mangiare una buonissima pizza e pagare poco per la qualità degli ingredienti e dell’impasto
