26/03/2024: I confirm the fact that the antipasto is the restaurant's flagship dish and I recommend sharing it with another person. If you like seafood, you are in for a treat. The woman who served us was very warm. On the other hand, I will not recommend desserts that are not homemade (but this was indicated by the waitress). It's a good address, the prices are correct. Go for it!

29/08/2023: So, I recommend it because we ate a lot, with reasonable prices, I missed the photo of the mixed fried food, but with €27 I got spaghetti with seafood, mixed fried food, salad or chips, you have the choice, coffee, water and wine, guys, I'm South American and I eat a lot, you can eat for two with these dishes, good luck...🤝

02/01/2024: Cena al Casato il 30 dicembre. Abbiamo alloggiato presso il hotel e non potevamo non provare il loro ristorante. Atmosfera molto accogliente. Piatti buonissimi con ottima qualità della materia prima. Tornerò!

Primi buonissimi, linguine con acciughe e mollica a richiesta e strozzapreti.con pesce spada con cubetti di pesce morbidissimi. Frittura di pesce fresco. Apparenza per l'immagine raffinata del locale e dai servizi pulitissimi. Gentilissime la Sig.ra e la cameriera argentina. Veramente soddisfatti anche per il rapporto qualira' prezzo
13/01/2024: Gestire un cenone di capodanno a 360 gradi non dev'essere per nulla semplice, tempistiche, menù, qualità, abbondanza. Invece faccio i miei complimenti allo chef, nel suo locale pur essendo una serata particolare abbiamo mangiato bene e ci siamo anche divertiti. Antipasti caldi e freddi ottimi, ci torneremo

What we particularly liked: Despite the language barrier (we don't speak Italian), our communication was very pleasant and entertaining. We felt very comfortable. 23/02/2024: Ottimo ristorante situato nello spettacolare Borgo di Caulonia Superiore, non è la prima volta che con amici decidiamo di cenare qui e riescono comunque a sorprenderci sempre e non si smentiscono mai. Cucina di alti livelli, difficile da trovare in queste zone. Ci ritorneremo sicuramente presto

26/03/2024: Passing through Gioia Tauro on our way to Rome we stopped for lunch. We discovered it by searching on the internet. From the outside it is anonymous but once inside everything changes. Nice parking among the olive trees, garden. A large wooden veranda overlooking the garden/parking area houses the dining room. We ate very well. Delicious swordfish paccheri. Excellent tuna with onion and grilled vegetables. Excellent service and very kind owner. Prices more than honest. Very good.

31/03/2024: La Piccola Taverna is the place you don't expect. It is in fact a butcher's shop which, in addition to offering a vast choice in the sector, amazes inside with its well-optimised and welcoming catering space. I have already stopped 4 times for dinner while traveling and every time I am amazed by the kindness of the waiter ready to suggest dishes on and off the menu with grace and knowledge of the facts. Furthermore, the quality of the preparations and the grilled meat are a certainty that remains unchanged and this pushes me to return and try new dishes. It is difficult to recommend a particular dish, needless to say that there is "a professor" on the grill, the presentation and cooking are perfect and respond to the customer's request. I tried the exploded grilled potatoes for their uniqueness, I had them customized with a 'nduja cream and I was satisfied without any problems. What can I say, don't miss the opportunity to shock your taste buds, the flavors are authentic, genuine and take you back to childhood (I'm 54 years old) 😉. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED thanks to everyone, dining room and kitchen staff 👍

18/12/2023: Pranzo in cambusa,. Essendo inverno è con il mare increspato, la terrazzina esterna è rimossa, per cui si può pranzare tranquillamente all'interno, in un ambiente speciale. Il mio tavolo ha una finestrella con vista mare da sogno.. Come se fossimo all'interno di un nave. Si sente addirittura il rumore delle onde che si infrangono sul davanzale in pietra. Involtini di spatola strepitosi, parmigiana spada e melanzane eccellente. Polipo arrosto con pure delicatissimo. Ottima lista dei vini. Servizio eccellente. Cibo di gran fattura dive si sente la freschezza e l'odore dello splendido specchio di mare della chianalea.prezzi adeguati.
16/12/2023: Location incantevole sull'acqua, fra il rumore delle onde e i versi dei gabbiani. Personale gentilissimo e attento, pesce fresco, cucinato con sapore e delicatezza. Abbiamo preso un ottimo trancio di pesce spada, superbi involtini di spatola.

13/08/2023: Excellent restaurant, where it is possible to eat various dishes based on stockfish and also meat and other fish. During my visit I ate the mixed rustic appetizer which included a selection of cured meats and cheeses, a meatball (very good), a stuffed aubergine and a portion of aubergine parmigiana; for the price of the dish I judged it to be very good with adequate quantities. First I ordered the caserecce with porcini mushrooms, the mushrooms were very fresh, calloused and fragrant, the flavor was adequate and the pasta was well priced; I also tasted the hats with walnut sauce: the stuffed pasta was very tasty and the cream had a slight hint of walnuts, there was little cinnamon and therefore the flavor was lost, in general this was also a good dish; I continued tasting the first courses with the stockfish with salted ricotta: the pasta was cooked well (in general the cooking was adequate for all the first courses), the stockfish had a good flavor but was slightly too savory, the spicy note was well balanced. For the second course I took the roasted stockfish with porcini mushrooms with a side of vegetables (on that occasion they were potatoes): the mushrooms were excellent, the same quality as those eaten in the first course, the stockfish was roasted to perfection, you could feel the embers and also a light smokiness, the only flaw was the stockfish had been desalted too much, the potatoes were really delicious. We also took a Calabrian sparkling white wine which was also very good and went very well with what we ate. To finish a bottle of sweet sparkling wine that accompanied a cake brought to us (which was kindly cut and served to us free of charge, which is not something everyone does), the sparkling wine was really good. In our group there were also two children who ate pasta with sauce and cutlet with potatoes. I highly recommend the porcini mushroom pasta because it was truly phenomenal. The prices are very affordable, as you can see on the receipt we spent €220 for 9 of us with wine and sparkling wine which translates into around €30 each which for the quality of the food served is a truly competitive figure. The staff is kind and helpful, they fulfilled every request quickly, furthermore the service was fast and in about 2 hours we finished dinner and took some photos. The very kind owner. Outside the venue it is very easy to find parking for your car. I highly recommend going here to eat excellent quality dishes without spending a lot.

20/03/2024: I gave the second star simply for the kindness of the waitress and the owner... And it's as if I had said everything... Spartan location, which harks back to the glories of years gone by, those made of neon lights, aquariums with live lobsters (those that are still alive🤦🏻), and corridors with photos of VIPs that leave their memories... I'll start by saying that the bathrooms are clean and fragrant, small but colored with the blue of the sea that can be seen from the table on the veranda where they seat you... you are practically on the seafront road a few steps from the shore with the promontory and the castle of Scilla, and for this reason, the expectations could be positive (high would be a big word)... mixed starter where the best thing, because it is fried well, is the "pitticella" of baby or whitebait or ice fish, whatever you want , and the bruschetta with spicy marinated anchovies... a small piece of aubergine parmigianina which must have been their interpretation because, otherwise it cannot be explained as it was not received, as were the two baby arancini, 🤦🏻.. Moving on to the first courses, on the advice of the owner who kindly showed me the ingredients of the gnocchi al cartoccio, I wanted to "approach" this feared historical delicacy according to him (it seems they have been making it for thirty years 🤦🏻)... I'll just summarize that I ate all the fish on the rocks, deliberately leaving the gnocchi because they were a "lead" that I struggled to digest🤦🏻🤦🏻 We ordered the linguine with swordfish....🤔🤔🤔 Which I think has never seen the kitchen because I don't think it was swordfish🤦🏻I prefer to stay and overlook this Hamlet-like doubt...we deliberately preferred not to end with dessert and pay. .. Certain realities, in the infamous 2024, the millennium of artificial intelligence and social media, need to review their beliefs, their menus and potential, and thus decide which path to take, whether that of restoration and innovation or that of closure.
