20/07/2025: Courtesy shouldn't have timetables. We stayed one night at this hotel, pre-paid for a room with breakfast. The room was a bit small, but for a one-night stopover, it was more than adequate. Breakfast is served at the "Bistrot Imbarcadero," a restaurant they also own, 100 meters from the hotel. We were informed at check-in, and it's highlighted on various posters, that breakfast ends at 10:00. They are very punctual. This morning, we treated ourselves to a few extra hours of sleep and arrived at the bistro at 10:10. We were fully aware that it was late, so we didn't expect to have a hearty breakfast or find tables set. However, if it's the Sahara Desert at 10:10, either the breakfast was already poor or they started clearing the table early. In any case, the fact remains that I was late, so it's my fault. However, I can't tolerate the rude waiter telling us, "Breakfast lasts until 10; if you come back to the entrance, maybe they'll make you a coffee." I don't think that's a good approach. We had a good breakfast at the Sicilian pastry shop across the street; feel free to keep the cost of the breakfast you already paid and the waiter's coffee. Sometimes, however, the same concept can be conveyed differently. For future waiter training, the correct words would have been, "I'm sorry, but unfortunately we've already closed breakfast service. If you'd like, I can have you serve a coffee at the counter." This would probably have had a different effect.
