15/03/2025: For me, La Brace has always been that place where I hoped to find a place to eat a good dish of Valtellina cuisine, perhaps returning from a trip to Chiareggio, or Chiesa Valmalenco.
I would never have said that, in this place, the worst joke of my life would have taken place.
I think it is not honest to use the 4 stars that were (and I emphasize WERE) of a restaurant, stick them on the sign where the word "hotel" also stands out, and expect that this hotel (if it can be called that) is also four stars.
If not for the price of the room, this is not a 4-star hotel.
With the intention of giving my mother a pleasant weekend, for the weekend of March 8, I booked a room with two separate beds. We had to note that they were child-sized beds, uncomfortable, with a deformed and hard mattress, and there were several missing slats. An unworthy situation, for a 4-star hotel.
Our mistake was not to ask for a change, even in the middle of the night.
But, to be honest, I don't think this would have changed the situation. Also because the reception, as we were informed, closes at 9 pm. The only valid solution would have been to leave the building to go and sleep in the car.
The hotel has no services: even the request for an online reservation, for the Bernina train, by the reception was rejected with a "you have to do it yourself".
If by services you mean, apart from the presence of the restaurant, the tobacconist's bar, the lottery and the Galbusera sales point, we're in trouble. These are the services of a motorway service station, not of a 4-star hotel.
Not to mention breakfast. Is a 4-star breakfast a buffet with packaged tarts from the store next door, a slightly stale cake left over from the day before at the bar, two fruits as hard as rocks, and the absence of savory alternatives or for those with intolerances (if we exclude two miserable pots of lactose-free yogurt)?
Given the cost of the room, what exactly do you pay for all this? The view?
The beautiful view of the road, or of the warehouses at the back? The one on the parking lot?
The beauty of the building alone?
Asking that amount for a room that is questionable even in terms of cleanliness and with an uncomfortable bathroom, what does it give you in return?
I appreciated the understanding of the staff who, coming to meet me, discounted the room by fifty percent. Because I, honestly, would have left without paying.
Hidden in the ceiling by some beams were the pipes of the ventilation system that all night did nothing but disturb, with its continuous moans, an already terrifying night.
In conclusion: we had to return early. Tired, demoralized, angry, dejected; I don't think I'll ever forgive them for the mediocrity that they managed to make us pay for with interest, and for ruining our weekend.
A short vacation that was even shorter than expected, ruined by the inadequacy of a service that they were unable to provide, not even in its bare minimum, asking, moreover, for a sum that was neither here nor there, even if it was then discounted by half.
I don't want to use terms that would be deserved: but passing off something as something that it is not, is simply dishonest.
I will never set foot in here again. Not even for a coffee.
EDIT: I think that improving is possible, if you are aware of your limits, and not convinced that you can screw over others because others can be screwed. The best thing would be to keep quiet and not continue to argue about nothing, looking for the easiest excuse or motivation available (like when we didn't do our homework as children and then the dog ate it). For example, saying that breakfast is zero km means not having a perception of what the buffet available was a few meters away from the corridor. For me it's true, it's zero km because you bought the Galbusera cakes next door.
23/02/2025: Sono approdata con molta paura x via di alcune recensioni poco positive, con un gruppo di 50 persone.
E invece.... personale gentile, cibo ottimo e caretteristico del luogo, camere soddisfacenti.
Ci tornerei molto volentieri.
