If you're looking for a quiet spot away from traffic, Ristorante Gastaldo in Sorbara (in the province of Mantua) is a true gem. The restaurant is located in a recently renovated building that retains a unique historical charm: the building was originally the stables of Count Tosio (built during the Venetian Republic) and was then entrusted to a trusted person, the Gastaldo, from whom it takes its name. Ambience and Structure: The interior is truly beautiful and welcoming, with exposed wooden beams, brick, and spacious interiors divided into courtyards that evoke the warm and authentic atmosphere of a farmhouse. Ample parking is available outside. Menu and Specials: The selection is varied and balanced, with approximately six classic first courses and six classic second courses, as well as rich appetizers and desserts. The tasting menu (€35) is very interesting, including two first courses, two second courses, dessert, water, and coffee. In the evening, they also open a dining room set up as a true Osteria, serving traditional dishes such as pike in sauce with polenta and sautéed snails. Our Experience: We ordered: House appetizer: with cured meats and delicious polenta crostini garnished in various ways. Tortelli di erbette amaretti: with expertly rolled pastry and a well-balanced filling. Fassona sliced ​​steak: perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and of excellent quality. All washed down with a bottle of Lambrusco and finished with two excellent coffees. Final Verdict: Excellent quality food and a truly unbeatable value. Attentive service and a delightful atmosphere. We were extremely satisfied and will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

As for the food, I was expecting, and hoping for, something more artisanal, but it was still good. The ambiance is obviously Viking-themed.

We asked if we were offered a bitter as a reward since we complained, the woman didn't even take us into account... as we were leaving I said, but those two really shoddy roses, some people make me absolutely never again!!! In my opinion, it would be better if you first hired competent cleaning staff, I would also add high-level cooks and assistant cooks, given the location is not balanced like this, the whole thing loses value and it's a real shame!!
