08/03/2026: A table for seven with diverse tastes and palates. We began planning the menu the day before with the restaurant staff to ensure everyone would be satisfied. Dinner was a memorable culinary experience, but what struck me most was the attention to service. The wait staff was highly qualified and attentive to every detail.
01/12/2025: We stayed at this property last weekend. I'll start with what I liked. The Shalai is a finely renovated late 19th-century building, elegant and welcoming. The strong points are definitely the restaurant and the kindness of the staff. It also has a spa, which, although small, is still usable and enjoyable.
The downside, at least in our experience, was the rooms. We had a superior double room: nice, but not excellent value for money. Although it was reasonably spacious, the bathroom was not up to par with the rest of the property, especially since the shower curtain was dated and unhygienic, unlike even one-star hotels these days. Here's a tip for the property: the property is amazing, the staff is a plus, the spa is delightful, and the restaurant is top-notch, but please, remove those curtains.

22/02/2026: My family and I stopped at this pizzeria after a day skiing in Piano Provenzana. Wide selection. You can even order two different pizza flavors.
I particularly like the salmon pizza: EXCELLENT!

08/10/2025: I've been a customer for many years, and I'm usually willing to travel 35 km there and back to enjoy their arancini.
I recommend trying their pastry shop and cafeteria, but especially their delicious arancini!!
I love Sicilian pastry shops and cafeterias, but their arancini are, in my opinion, the best and freshest in the entire province!!
I also recommend trying their delicious gelato and granitas in the summer.
I recommend this bar to everyone!!
And a special thanks to the owners and their families.

09/01/2026: I wish I’d heard of this restaurant earlier in our trip as I would have dined here more regularly. The pork cheek was one of the tastiest dishes I’ve ever consumed. The service was courteous and efficient and I’d highly recommend a visit here.

31/12/2025: A well-maintained restaurant, easy access, lots of meat, and a wide variety of cured meats. This is a very greasy sandwich, not suitable for children. Definitely expensive, so check the prices carefully. Service is not very organized.

08/03/2026: I stayed at the Rifugio on a Sunday with some friends. Well-located and easy to reach, the refuge is charming and welcoming, perfect for an immersive experience on the slopes of Etna. We only had lunch at the refuge, and there were eight of us. A major problem was the lack of reservation lists, so we had to wait a long time before being seated. The staff weren't very welcoming at first; they called our names to let us know there was a free table, but when they led us to the dining room, they claimed they hadn't called us. It happened twice. Despite this, we finally had lunch. The ingredients were good and homemade, but the meat was overcooked, and the appetizer could have been more generous, considering it was shared between two people. Overall, it was a great experience, a great stop for a refreshment during a hike!
01/03/2026: I must say that all in all it went well, it is a mountain refuge, so you can't expect much, moreover the price of the overnight stay including dinner and breakfast is low, a special appreciation goes to the waiter Carlo, a kind and helpful person, who served us dinner in the evening

25/02/2026: High-quality products, and a pastry shop, rotisserie, and snack bar are available here. Passing by on your way down the north side of the magnificent Etna volcano, I highly recommend stopping by! The staff are friendly and fast!
08/02/2026: We stopped by by chance after skiing and had arancini, cannoli, and a mouth-watering spinach-filled focaccia!!! We loved them so much we came back today for lunch and to grab some takeout for our flight home!! We'll be everyone's envy! Highly recommended, and the owner is SO AWESOME! He always treated us so well, even offering us some sweets ♥️

14/02/2026: Today 14/02/26 my friends and I went to see Inter Juve at the pub, when we celebrated the 2-2 goal they turned off the TV because they said we were making a mess, but excuse me, what should a person do when they score or when they concede a goal? Excuse me, thanks to the TV being turned off we couldn't watch the whole match, unfortunately you can't vote zero stars
24/01/2026: I was there last night, I expected a warmer atmosphere, in practice it was less cold outside (in the true sense of the word)... for the rest nothing to add...

09/03/2026: Enchanting location, breathtaking scenery... We had a wonderful lunch, the food was good and well-cooked, nothing to complain about.
As for the prices, unfortunately, everything costs money these days, we're on Mount Etna...when you go to a restaurant, you pay, and the prices are on the menu, after all.

02/03/2026: Rudeness and bad manners are paramount! One of the two ladies working the counter was shouting at customers and responding in a rude and impolite manner. I asked if the sausage in the sandwich I'd ordered could be cooked thoroughly, and she replied, "You take what's there!" (A hard, dry sandwich that doesn't even begin to justify the price). As I was leaving, annoyed, I was stopped by another customer who had been treated the same way by the lady simply because she'd requested that an €8 spritz be served in a cocktail glass and not a PLASTIC WATER GLASS filled with ice (it was the small glass). The bathroom was disgusting, filthy as hell—I recommend the public one (it costs €1 but is worth it). My only negative experience during my Etna holiday. Advice to the venue: I understand that the season is difficult and that it's equally difficult to keep up with demanding skiers who don't want to waste time, but if you work with the public, you can't afford to treat those who keep the venue open (the paying customers who use the services) this way.

Ho aspettato più di mezz’ora per ordinare e più di un’ora per i primi piatti.
Ho deciso di disdire il secondo piatto di carne per la troppa attesa.
Ce ne siamo andati amareggiati col sapore della salsa ancora in bocca.
Mai più.

01/05/2025: Lo si sceglie se si vuole la certezza di mangiare bene. Locale sempre carino, accogliente e molto molto pulito.
La qualità della cucina è di prim’ordine, con piatti ricercati e mai banali, valorizzati dall’accostamento alla cucina locale, del buonissimo tartufo.
Servizio e professionalità sempre ai massimi livelli.
16/04/2025: Huiselijk restaurant met heerlijk eten. Alles was perfect, de pasta, het vlees, de vis en de beste desserts. Aanrader voor wie in de buurt van de Etna verblijft.
