23/02/2026: Returned to this place after more than twenty years, not much has changed since then... however we had a fairly decent lunch, and prices were below average.

01/01/2026: A very positive experience! Even though we called at 1:45 PM, we still managed to have lunch. The welcoming and intimate atmosphere and the truly friendly and professional wait staff are a great asset. Appetizer: mixed cured meats and cheeses, and cheese and egg balls. Everything was truly delicious and made with quality ingredients. First courses: paccheri with pistachio pesto and tonnarelli cacio e pepe. These too were very flavorful and balanced. My only complaint about the cacio e pepe: perhaps the pasta was a little too salty, but that can happen. Dessert: tiramisu. Delicious and balanced, with a light amaretto flavor that adds an unexpected kick. Wine by the glass, water, coffee, and liqueurs. We spent €65 for two, and honestly, I thought it was very reasonable, given the quality of the ingredients and the service.

29/12/2025: I'd give the tonnarelli cacio e pepe a personal eight. Both the wait staff were very friendly, attentive, and quick. The information on what to see in Penne was helpful. I highly recommend Osteria del Leone.

19/12/2025: The hot/cold appetizers were pathetic, the cured meats were subpar, the cheese was good, the hot dishes were clearly reheated several times, and some were brought between cold and lukewarm. The skewers were bland and unresponsive, and brought to the table barely warm. The roast beef was decent, but also brought lukewarm. The side dishes were the same. Almost nothing was cooked fresh, but reheated poorly. The wine on tap was subpar. Having been a guest, I can't comment on this at this time, but I definitely think it's a place to avoid.

18/08/2025: I've been there twice, the first time in the summer and the second time in the winter. The food is good, both the meat and the pizza, and the staff is kind and polite.

17/08/2025: We visited this restaurant during our vacation and it was a truly excellent experience. The location is beautiful and spacious, both indoors and outdoors, perfect for enjoying a quiet dinner. The cuisine is authentic and meticulously prepared: the handmade arrosticini are simply the best we've ever eaten! The appetizers are also highly recommended, with an excellent selection of local cured meats (duck speck, wild boar salami, sheep's milk salami, etc.) and traditional sheep's and goat's milk cheeses. The desserts were also excellent, a fitting end to the evening. Special praise goes to the staff, always kind, welcoming, and very knowledgeable in explaining the dishes and conveying their love for the region and its products. A restaurant that absolutely deserves it: we'll definitely be back!
