06/09/2025: What can I say about a mix of flavors, but you have to start from the beginning. Since it's fig and porcini season, we trusted the owner's advice and ordered a Carmignano fig tartare with caramelized onions and goat cheese cream; then we had an excellent porcini mushroom carpaccio... And to finish, a tagliolini with porcini mushrooms that was simply amazing. If you haven't been, I recommend you try it and then tell us what you think!

01/07/2025: Oh boy....where do we start? If you're looking for a place to waste two hours of your life while slowly losing faith in the hospitality industry, then congratulations—you've found it. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by a host who seemed genuinely annoyed by the inconvenience of guests showing up. She asked us three separate times how many were in our party, and when we kept answering “four,” she bizarrely added, “Oh sorry, I was including myself.” I guess she figured she’d be joining us for dinner? Sadly, she didn’t—she just vanished into a fog of indifference. Now, let's talk about the food… or rather, the eventual arrival of food. A mind-numbing 95 minutes passed before anything edible (and I use that word lightly) hit the table. I’ve aged cheese faster than they brought our entrees. First up, the ricotta-stuffed flowers: aggressively salty, as if the chef confused ricotta with seawater. Bread was delivered twice—each time a mountain of it—perhaps to distract us from the creeping suspicion that dinner might never actually arrive. Spoiler: we eventually wished it hadn’t. And then, the steak. Oh, the steak. It takes true talent to strip a steak of all flavor, texture, and joy—but this place managed it. Tougher than a leather belt and blander than unseasoned tofu, it was easily the worst steak I’ve ever been served in any country, on any continent, during any century. I’ve had better luck at highway gas station diners. When we (politely!) offered some feedback, the owner scoffed. Literally. With the smug confidence of someone who’s been phoning it in for decades, he told us that in 30 years he’s never served a bad steak. He also bizarrely blamed France for our taste buds, suggesting that maybe we expected “too many herbs and flavors” in our meal, as if seasoning a steak were a crime against culinary tradition. For the record: we’re not from France. And we weren’t expecting foie gras flambéed in truffle butter. We just wanted a steak that didn’t feel like biting into a gym mat. The atmosphere was the only redeeming quality, perched charmingly near a piazza—but even that lost its charm as we watched table after table of unhappy diners doing the slow head-turns and wristwatch glances that universally signal: where the hell is our food? Final verdict? Unless your idea of a great night out includes confused staff, flavorless food, condescending owners, and a wait time long enough to grow your own vegetables, do yourself a favor and skip this place. You’ll thank me later when your jaw isn’t sore from chewing through boot leather masquerading as steak.

17/07/2025: We visited the restaurant on Wednesday evening at 9:30 PM, having booked through The Fork app. We were immediately greeted with great kindness and helpfulness by the staff, who were impeccable throughout the evening. We ordered two raw fish appetizers and two main courses: the service was quick and attentive, and the food was truly special, fresh, and beautifully presented. A special thanks goes to the professional and friendly staff: they made the experience even more enjoyable. Congratulations!

22/07/2025: A Mystical Experience I've rarely had the opportunity to experience such a beautiful dining experience. Dining at Pepe Nero Restaurant is like this: it's engaging with new, unusual flavors, it's seeing and tasting modern and traditional cuisine at the same time, the refined, expert, and sophisticated touch of those who, it's clear, have always been part of Great Cuisine. Each course is a surprise, to be appreciated first with the eyes and then with the palate. I always choose the tasting menu, so I can try a variety of flavors on the ever-changing menus: the cauliflower, red shrimp, and licorice risotto was a true delight, the Milanese-style red mullet with cabbage and grilled risotto was a delicacy, the stuffed squid was delicious and incredibly tender, accompanied by artichokes, black garlic, and Prato vermouth. And I won't even mention the culinary journey offered before lunch, with delicious small portions that literally ignite the senses. The staff is young, friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. The experience at Pepe Nero in Prato is a treat I always enjoy whenever I can. Thank you!
25/06/2025: It was a pleasant surprise! I went to lunch with my wife and son. We chose this restaurant because we had heard good things about it but we were a little afraid that it was the classic restaurant with expensive but extremely poor dishes… We wanted to try the experience anyway and we came away enthusiastic! The prices are absolutely fair and not too high but above all the quality is very high! Both in the choice of raw materials and in the skill in preparing the dishes we fell in love with it! We shared an appetizer among 3 of us (just to nibble something while waiting for the first courses) and incredibly the dish was sufficiently abundant to allow everyone to eat enough to appreciate it. Afterwards each of us had a first course and as an accompaniment we chose a bottle of white wine (it cost 18 euros and the wine list is fantastic! There are bottles of all types and from all over the world). Even for the first courses the quantity of the courses was generous and both my wife and my son struggled to finish… I was “forced” to help them a little… eheh! Having tasted all three first courses, I can say that the skill of those who work in the kitchen is truly exceptional! Congratulations! To finish, my wife and I shared a second course. We were very pleased to receive the dish already divided into two plates. The extremely professional and kind service is another strong point of this restaurant. In total, we spent 97 euros (so about 32 euros per person). We did not have dessert or coffee because we were full and satisfied. In the end, the expense was more than acceptable and I have rarely been so happy after paying the bill. We will definitely return every now and then to be lulled and spoiled with such quality.

08/09/2025: We went to this restaurant intrigued by the service that was broadcast on Studio Aperto. The chef is very talented. The zucchini flan is excellent, as is the linguine with double shrimp. The fig cheesecake is truly special. The menu is original, offering revisited dishes that are hard to find in other restaurants. The wine is good, and the quality/price ratio is excellent.

15/05/2025: Wine bar with Tuscan cuisine, small but welcoming and well-furnished, wood predominates the furniture which is warm and in typical Tuscan style. Located near the Medici villa. The menu is well structured, we tasted cutting boards and first courses accompanied by an excellent Barco Reale wine. Helpful staff. My friend and I spent a special evening, we will definitely be back❤️

05/09/2025: The food was the worst we had in Italy. Porcini mushroom pasta was flavourless and tasted like canned mushrooms. Ribollita was similarly bad and lacking texture. Cold service. 2 stars given for nice dining terrace and outdoor ambiance.
