Il Guado Della Valle

Civitella alfedena
10/08/2026: I lived in Abruzzo for two years, and the cuisine is a serious matter, leaving aside the details—mushrooms like jam passed off as porcini mushrooms (60%)—on the menu, they write truffle, and then you end up with truffle sauce or cream, which turns out to be scorzone, making the small amount of pasta almost float in this tasteless and odorless concoction. Speechless, we don't order anything else and leave, wondering how in an Abruzzo village they can conceive of cuisine like this. Highly discouraged.
09/08/2026: I chose this place because of the reviews and the captivating photos. I couldn't have made a worse choice. Leaving aside the fact that the staff is neither qualified nor worthy of qualification. But I thought... well, let's trust them. The appetizers are a saving grace because they're a mix of cured meats and cheeses. Then came the first courses. In installments. They were presented sloppily and not well combined. But the worst came when tasting them. Chitarrina with truffle and porcini mushrooms... there was neither. The truffle was not the fresh kind, but rather the tasteless truffle paste. The mushrooms were not porcini but a mix, and it was obvious just by looking at them, and they didn't taste like porcini. Chitarrina with roe deer... a creamy brown broth with three pieces of meat in which the pasta was floating and tasted only of juniper. Strozzapreti with sausage and saffron sauce... it was a sour tomato pasta with 20 strozzapreti, the sausage not arriving. Arrosticini...come on, you can't go wrong with those...they weren't cooked properly. Basically, we ate because we were so hungry and because at 1:30 PM, where are you going? We even mentioned it to the manager, who finally offered us coffees and a plate of chitarrina with venison. Thank you so much, but I'll never go back. It's a shame because I expected tradition and quality. Instead, I found a total disaster. I wanted to order the tiramisu, but I saw it pass by and decided against it. I'm not saying a foreigner shouldn't work as a chef in an Italian restaurant, but someone, please, teach him how to cook.
