03/08/2025: Food 1: Can't get less than one star. Seafood scialatielli made with frozen products, and perhaps even poorly. Spaghetti eaten by a 6-year-old girl who had abdominal pain and vomiting all night.
Spaghetti cacio e pepe with shrimp tartare was FLAVORLESS and had an industrial amount of salt.
Service was below par, with the only exception being maître d' Stefano, who was kind and professional despite the difficulties at the table.
Prices were out of line, exorbitant, almost making us think we were in a place where the produce is caught and cooked. Will I go back? NEVER AGAIN.

27/08/2025: Terrible experience tonight at the Pirate restaurant. The owner was arrogant and rude, the prices were exorbitant, and to top it all off they didn't even issue a receipt.

31/08/2025: We stayed at the Hotel Saline from August 22nd to 27th, 2025. The only positive things were the kindness of the people and the sea view. I mean, "view," because the sea is inaccessible due to the underwater reef that extends from the shore for dozens of meters, which is also very dangerous. We had to go to the beach elsewhere, spending a lot more money. Furthermore, I think the chef was on vacation during the week we stayed, so he couldn't make pasta that wasn't overcooked—I'm talking about penne and rigatoni, not fresh pasta.
The only professional was the maitre d', Pasquale. Eggs at breakfast had to be paid for separately; at €145 per person for half board, two scrambled eggs would have been fine. Finally, to the left of the hotel, there's a long-unfinished eyesore, still owned by the same owner, and when we went to pay, no one asked how our stay had been... did they already know the answers and related criticisms?
Being from central and southern Italy myself, I'm truly sorry to have to write these things, which are unfortunately true! Given the level demonstrated, it does not reflect the declared category...perhaps a little more transparency combined with an appropriate price could avoid controversy.
28/08/2025: I booked this hotel for a weekend. They emailed me a quote to make the payment. I immediately took steps to make the payment when I received a call from this poorly organized and disrespectful hotel, saying they had canceled the reservation because it had been sold without even giving me time to pay online (we're talking about two minutes from the time their email arrived).
You are a disgrace as hoteliers. It's a shame there's no zero star rating, because that's what you deserve.

23/08/2025: A quiet restaurant. Exceptional sciallatelli. Very friendly and attentive staff.
17/08/2025: First dinner of our trip here, on the recommendation of friends who had been there a year earlier.
The gentleman was very kind, finding us a seat inside given the rather cool weather!
The appetizer didn't really win me over, but the scialatielli allo scoglio made up for it; they were delicious.
The price was average, we spent around 90 euros.

16/08/2025: We spent an unforgettable holiday at Residence Pietre Rosse. The location is simply fantastic: when the heat on the beach becomes oppressive, here you can enjoy the fresh and pleasant air, with a breathtaking view of Cape Palinuro that will truly leave you speechless.
Special thanks go to the entertainment team, which was the real added value of our stay. Sophie and her wonderful team—Giorgia, Azzurra, Valentina, Emanuele, Alessandro, and Giovanni—entertained us with energy, courtesy, and great professionalism. Always respectful yet engaging, they made every day lively and fun.
I highly recommend this residence to anyone seeking relaxation, natural beauty, and a warm welcome, made unique by an entertainment team that truly makes the difference.
15/08/2025: Rooms with cables hanging out, unusable shower, small with a water heater practically above your head... far from the sea there is a dilapidated shuttle available, restaurant practically a school canteen, terrible services

04/08/2025: Post cena siamo andati in questo forno pasticceria su consiglio della nostra albergatrice. Abbiamo preso una sfogliatella riccia e un mega croissant farcito alla crema di pistacchio (i croissant ci erano stati caldamente consigliati!!!) Tutto squisito!!!! Dimensioni, prezzi e qualità top!!!
21/07/2025: We ordered a croissant and a donut. The cream-filled croissant was very good. The donut was inedible: hard and full of oil. It was definitely made hours in advance, if not the morning.

21/08/2025: Beautiful place in the center of Palinuro with perfect weather, the only cooler place in Palinuro along Via Indipendenza, and that's the positive side.
Many times over the years, we've asked for coffee after 10 pm, and we're always told they can't make coffee at that time, even though it's a bar. This year, annoyed by this, I asked the owner, who I find very rude and curt, to be knowledgeable about the fact that they can't make coffee. She, very annoyed, rude, and impolite, replied that she didn't have to explain herself to me and that they didn't have the skills. I replied, and it's clear you really don't have the skills to run this place.
It's a shame, because it really seems like the people almost bothered her.
I strongly advise against it, but go there just to enjoy the view without buying anything. I hope she understands that anyone who runs a business must do it with professionalism and courtesy.
20/08/2025: The tagliolini with lobster are recommended, medium-high priced, but these are the prices in Palinuro.

28/07/2025: Dirty rooms, bathroom leaking from all sides, boiling hot room with air conditioning that doesn't even have the power to reach the corridor, TV that loses its signal, doors that almost fall off the wall, to sum it all up I'd say, better to close.
15/07/2025: We had dinner at this restaurant, we ate excellent fish with a wonderful view, friendly service and excellent value for money.

23/08/2025: A family-run guesthouse. Nothing is missing. Above all, I appreciated the courtesy and care they showed for my allergies.
20/08/2025: Palinuro is beautiful, worth a visit. Speaking of the structure, the rooms are poor, the bathrooms are not maintained, there is no mini fridge, the mattress is more comfortable than the one on the beach, for those with leg problems there is no adequate service.

11/07/2025: We came here by chance without reading the negative reviews, and I regret it... the first course was "fish" that was all frozen, high prices, old and smelly atmosphere, a dump.
P.S. They only accept cash, shameful, change your profession.
02/05/2025: Shocking prices 3 panuozzi (which were pitiful) 1 beer 1 cola 1 water, €80 in the month of November. Leave it alone.

23/08/2025: It's not a disaster (I didn't find any inedible dishes or rude staff), but it's a restaurant that presents itself as refined and sophisticated without having the caliber to justify the wait, price, and some poor technical choices. It promises a gourmet experience but delivers poorly.
We booked for 10:00 PM, arrived promptly, and despite the free tables, we were made to wait 15 minutes: the shift management is already perplexing; it makes no sense if they don't enforce it consistently. The setting is very well-kept, with a garden and atmospheric lighting, but there's only one waiter for the entire room, so some downtime is inevitable.
While waiting for our main course, bread, focaccia, and tarallini arrive: the focaccia is a bit dry, the tarallini a bit bland. Not the best calling card. The first courses arrive after 35 minutes (borderline acceptable, but only if the result is surprising...): linguine alla nerano with shrimp tartare, served in a deep bowl. The plating is disappointing. The tall plate retains too much heat, and it "cooked" the tartare, compromising the overall concept. The linguine was creamy, okay, but it lacked the punch of the nerano, and the shrimp were lost. So it's not a "wrong" dish, but it's bland.
Final bill: €53 for two (€22 per plate, plus cover charge and water). This price might have made sense if the experience had been truly memorable, but here the gap between promise and result is evident.
19/08/2025: How wonderful to return to Ristorante da Carmelo and once again discover Adele's consistently excellent cuisine! A delightful dinner, with flavorful dishes, elegantly presented, and accompanied by attentive, family-like service. The return of a great Cilento restaurant. By far the best restaurant in the area.
