06/08/2026: We went there and back in a few days. Because it's so rare to find a good restaurant that it's best not to miss it. Fresh fish, excellent ingredients, and a wonderfully experimental approach.
First evening: tuna, cod, and grouper, tall, firm pieces of fish, incredibly flavorful, each with a special accompaniment. The crusco pepper and cod sauce were remarkable, along with the delicate vegetables with the grouper. €69 for three.
Second evening: We expanded. 1.3 kilos of turbot with potatoes, the catch of the day cooked to order, a 25-minute wait, but then it was finger-licking good. While we waited, we had a delicious roast octopus appetizer with excellent vegetables, plus a couple of desserts. It came to €118.
To be repeated again, this time we tried the first courses.
24/07/2026: After 10 years of vacationing in Trebisacce, I've found a truly remarkable seafood restaurant that fully demonstrates the talent of the chef, staff, and ingredients, offering the highly professional service Trebisacce so desperately needs.
You can also bring your four-legged friend, who will be treated with the same respect as a human.
I especially recommend it to anyone like me who's looking for a restaurant where you'll be treated the same way as a local.

The appetizer is something that stays in your mind (and heart): plentiful, varied, full of authentic flavors. It's one of those places that's worth the visit alone, as it takes you on a complete journey between seafood and tradition.
But the real magic comes with the salmon tartare: simply sublime. Fresh, delicate, perfectly balanced... one of those dishes that makes you close your eyes at the first bite.
All this is accompanied by friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at ease from the first moment.
A restaurant where you eat truly well, without compromise. One of those places you'll gladly return to, knowing it won't disappoint.

23/07/2026: The last time I ate there, quite a few years ago, the pizzeria was still in its old, historic location.
Today I found a really good pizza with a vast (perhaps too vast) menu and sophisticated combinations. The quality of the fried foods is good, but I'd add a few more small delicacies (in addition to the usual fries, Ascoli olives, and mozzarella).
Service is fast but attentive and precise.
Reservations are highly recommended, if not mandatory.
Plenty of parking available on the street.

18/07/2026: The wait was too long, even though I had a reservation. Due to personal reasons, I arrived 40 minutes late. Having missed my turn, I had to wait about half an hour to find a table. Having ordered at 9:15 PM, the pizzas arrived at 10:30 PM, while my small children were already almost asleep. The pizza was good, but the service and customer service were terrible.

28/07/2026: I was very satisfied with my experience at Da Focile. I haven't been there in years, and honestly, I vaguely remember enjoying it as a child.
The strong point is undoubtedly the food: everything we ordered was truly exceptional, well-prepared, and full of flavor.
The portions were almost perfect for my tastes, and personally, I have to admit it was worth returning after so many years.
Regarding the dishes, the mussels and grilled squid were excellent, as was the pasta with sausage ragù. They were rich in flavor, and I honestly have to admit that pasta with ragù is one of my all-time favorites, besides ramen, of course.
When I tried the pasta with clams my dad ordered, I found it very good and made with fresh ingredients; the only small complaint was that he found it slightly too salty, but nothing that compromised the quality of the dish.
The service was attentive and never intrusive. The staff was helpful and present at the right times, allowing us to enjoy our dinner in peace.
The owner was kind in welcoming us, and I noticed he did the same with almost every customer, if I'm not mistaken.
The atmosphere is pleasant and suitable for a summer dinner, although on warmer evenings, I would have appreciated one or more fans to make the experience even more comfortable.
Overall, it's a restaurant I'd happily recommend for the quality of the food, and I'd happily return if I didn't live far away.

I asked myself... I don't know! The food we chose wasn't great... in conclusion, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE... lack of hospitality, service, and food that leaves much to be desired... HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED 👎👎👎

01/08/2026: Apparently I've been there before as a kid, but honestly, I don't remember it.
I can only say that my experience wasn't very impressive, perhaps because I had higher expectations than I actually had.
I ordered the lobster rings, and honestly, I didn't like them very much. First, the lobster meat was so thin that I couldn't pair the lobster with the pasta, resulting in only two or three forkfuls of small pieces.
The remaining pasta portion, about 80%, I ate as if it were pasta with tomato sauce, and honestly, I wasn't too crazy about it.
The grilled meat wasn't bad, but I only liked the sea bass, which had a good flavor. The rest was just good but not impressive.
Perhaps I'm too picky and particular in taste, but I didn't really enjoy this dinner, but as far as the quality of the product goes, everything was fresh and excellent.
When I eat, I like quantity and, above all, flavor, but these dishes tasted better than other restaurants, but not quite up to the mark to say it was worth it.
Maybe it also depends on what I ordered, but honestly, at this point, I don't really care.
First impressions are the most impactful, and mine was really basic, so much so that I found it disappointing.
The staff is attentive and friendly enough, but they don't convey the closeness and sense of kindness that they convey in other restaurants. But that seems fair.
In conclusion, although I honestly expected a lot, I would have done better to order the usual dishes, since they seemed tastier.
P.S.: Even with the fans on, it was sweaty.
01/08/2026: A truly special evening at Il Grillo Restaurant in Trebisacce. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with great warmth, but what made the experience even more wonderful was the owner, who shared the history of the restaurant and its history with passion and authenticity. It was like being guests in the house, not just customers.
The pasta with anchovies was simply spectacular: authentic flavors, perfectly balanced, and prepared with great care. Each dish reflects Calabrian tradition and a love for local cuisine.
The service was impeccable: attentive, fast, professional, and always with a smile. You can feel the entire staff's passion for ensuring guests have an unforgettable experience.
A restaurant where quality, hospitality, and tradition come together perfectly. If you're passing through Trebisacce, stopping at Il Grillo isn't just a recommendation, it's a must. Kudos to the entire staff; we'll definitely be back!
