14/01/2026: I'll start by saying that before writing this review, I stopped by several times, because I'm the first to say that you can't judge a place after just one visit.
But alas, every time I stop by with family and friends, I've always encountered, as reported by countless reviews, extremely rude and impolite staff, especially the girl with the Spanish accent... it feels like you're doing her a disservice to ask for an aperitif or just a coffee! Never a smile, never a thank you... I recommend a good hospitality course and some basic education, as well as a thorough cleaning, starting with the bathrooms... it's a shame because it's on the street, with parking and the option to buy newspapers and tobacco, but that's just not the case!
Plus the "no separate bills" thing, which is already hilarious, as if they were a restaurant with 100 tables!!!

The interior is beautiful, with its vaulted ceiling.
The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is reminiscent of an ancient inn.

17/10/2025: We always order the best home delivery pizza from them... today my daughter wanted a heart-shaped pizza... I asked if it was possible and they told me they were happy to do it... my daughter was very happy... thank you and congratulations, the pizza is always delicious
10/07/2025: Terrible, I don't know what happened, the first pizza arrived promptly at home and the edge was stuck to the cardboard like rubber, I called and they kindly confirmed that the pizza chef is not the same as usual and they promptly brought me another pizza even worse, terrible dough, terrifying... and even more stuck to the cardboard... I don't know what happened, I will never have it again!! terrible

16/10/2025: We had a buckwheat cake that was very moist and flavorful. The apple strudel made with shortcrust pastry was good, but could have used a bit more apple (in my opinion). The coffee was good.
The service was friendly and quick. There's nice seating outside, as well as inside.
14/10/2025: Lovely terrace in the heart of Algund. Friendly service. Sun and shade. Restrooms available. Small parking lot around the corner. Bike stand right outside.

05/03/2026: We were at the church for a funeral when my daughter suddenly had to use the restroom urgently. Unfortunately, the public restroom was out of order, and the two other bars nearby were closed. So we quickly went into this bar, and I immediately gave the waitress €4 and politely asked if my daughter could use the restroom for a moment.
The waitress said I had to ask the manager first. So I went to the manager, handed him the €4 as well, and explained the situation. His reply was very curt: No, we should use the public restroom.
I explained again that it was out of order and that we didn't want to drink anything because we were at the church for a funeral—and that I was happy to give him the €4 (which is actually more than a glass of mineral water would cost). His only response was: "Well, then you'll have to do without it."
I was so ashamed of myself, especially in these times, to treat people like that, especially in such a situation!! I hope Stefan, you never find yourself in a situation like that again!

Very friendly and attentive service.
If you enjoy the lively atmosphere of the square in Kaltern, this is the place to go.
It was our first time there, and we'll definitely be back.
Highly recommended!
09/03/2026: Friendly, very attentive service. Unfortunately, the Passion Spritz consisted mostly of ice, making it definitely too expensive. The focaccia was rock hard and was returned. A new focaccia was brought, which unfortunately was no different from the first. Only the rustic bread was delicious. A real shame.

22/03/2026: I sat outside. After waiting half an hour, a very unfriendly woman, a blonde lady with glasses, came yelling at me, demanding to know what I wanted. Without even a greeting or an apology! Then, when I finally wanted to order, she ignored everything and went to another table where my order was taken immediately. I've never experienced such rude and unpleasant service! Luckily, there are other cafes where you receive a warm welcome!
Very disappointing... absolutely no consideration for the customers...
Never again!
14/02/2026: Last Sunday, I was strolling around Merano with my partner when we stopped at this bar for a thick hot chocolate. We entered and sat at a table where the welcome was uncomfortable and the service terrible.
We ordered a large and a small thick chocolate. The waitress replied that the thick ones are only large. So I ordered a thick one too. Well, there wasn't anything thick about it because it tasted like dirty water and the cocoa powder lingered in your mouth with an unpleasant aftertaste. The icing on the cake was when I politely went to the counter to ask for a glass of Mayor's water and the barista asked me: "Did you order a cafe?" I replied, "No, two hot chocolates." She replied that they only gave water to those who ordered a cafe; otherwise, it would be an extra burden for them if everyone asked for a glass of water! Well, I'd never heard of such a thing, and she started grumbling at me, and we decided to leave. When I paid, I gave her the €8 for the two chocolates and said, "I'll leave you €2 for the water I didn't drink because your colleague didn't serve it to me." I'll conclude by saying that I strongly advise against this place for anything, and that since I also work in a job where I provide customer service, the customer needs to be taken care of in every way, because they're the ones who pay us!

29/12/2025: A hot chocolate? My Dolce Gusto makes it better. If I didn't get up, bye-bye waiter. Do you want to talk about the bathrooms? Better not. I'm sorry, but honestly, after yesterday, I won't be back.
23/11/2025: Slow staff, we waited 10 minutes for our neighbors at table 25, they brought us three chocolates instead of 4 and you couldn't call it chocolate because it was basically milk and nesquik... bathroom without toilet paper, otherwise the place is very nice
