06/09/2025: Location: A well-designed property with well-distributed spaces and a refined design that make it truly welcoming. The outdoor pool area is also lovely.
Reception: Always available, attentive, and proactive in advising and guiding guests throughout their stay. Special thanks to Rachele, whose smile and helpfulness ensured our vacation.
Rooms: Our standard economy room was spacious and clean. The very comfortable bed provided ideal comfort. The bathroom was a bit narrow but well-designed and fully equipped.
Food: We've never eaten so well on vacation. Full stop.
Chef Donato Di Nunzio literally amazed us with his creative dishes, respectful of Abruzzo's culinary traditions.
The breakfast buffet was always full of high-quality and delicious products. The cakes, thyme biscuits, jams, and hazelnut spread were excellent.
Dinner was always a delightful experience, with the delicacy and flavor the Chef expertly created in his delicious gastronomic creations. The table service was impeccable, with special thanks to Martina, who was always prompt and attentive to our needs.
Conclusion: You'll never realize you're a guest because the hospitality and passion conveyed by the Di Nunzio family will make you feel perfectly at home. Highly recommended.

19/08/2025: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
The rooms are a little dated, but the staff and hospitality make the difference. Piero, in particular, is the best, always available and kind, ready to accommodate all your needs. The food is excellent. The location is very good. Although there is no private parking, it's easy to find a spot near the hotel. We personally highly recommend it to anyone visiting Villetta Barrea, and we'll definitely be back. Probably the best value for money!
14/08/2025: Highly recommended, the hotel is spotless and strategically located for enjoying the national park. I stayed for a week and felt right at home. Mr. Pietro was incredibly kind, and Chef Luigi delighted us with his delicious dishes for both breakfast and dinner! I'll definitely be back.

21/09/2025: The one star, reluctantly, goes for the simple fact that in 2025, in August, in a mountain resort that thrives on tourism, it's absolutely unacceptable to not allow dogs. They make matters worse when, upon arrival with the dog, they attack with "I told you on the phone." Madam, if you had told us, we certainly wouldn't have driven 25 minutes and then turned back. It's a shame, because it must be said that the pizza is very good.
14/09/2025: The pizza is typical Neapolitan with a thick crust, and it's good. The appetizers are good, including a welcome lentil soup, which was very good. I also ordered a pizza with truffles, but when it arrived, unfortunately, it had truffle sauce instead of truffle. It was still good, but I expected truffles since that's what was written on the menu. The staff were kind and friendly.

17/10/2025: A pleasant stay to photograph the deer's bellowing: excellent location, great professionalism, courtesy, and customer service; cleanliness and quality of the room; more than satisfactory cuisine... an excellent value for money. I'll be back for the foliage...
12/10/2025: This year too, I returned to Villetta Barrea, "Albergo Il Pescatore," with many friends for the "G.E.M.A. Mycological Conference." The welcome was excellent, the service was excellent, the breakfasts were plentiful and delicious, and the lunches and dinners were excellent, especially Maria's fresh pasta. Despite our advanced age and the 650 km that separate us, we hope to return next year.

07/10/2025: A very nice restaurant just outside Villetta Barrea, with a large outdoor park and a stone's throw from the lake and the river. The food is excellent, featuring local dishes.

07/05/2025: Veramente ottimo! La gentilezza della signorina che ci ha seguito, con consigli e spiegazioni, le zuppe favolose, le ottime porzioni e il prezzo veramente buono per quanto offerto ci hanno stregato! Grazie!
03/05/2025: Cucina semplice, sincera, senza fronzoli da ambiziosi gourmet, ad un prezzo giusto e con un servizio corretto e molto cortese. Evitate manciate di sale, grassi inutili, panne pasticciate per dare solo apparenza di sapore. Un agnello da 20 e lode per quanto mi riguarda (davvero gustoso e cotto a puntino). Chitarra al pomodoro, gnocchi a salsiccia e zafferano e fantastici agnolotti di ricotta al tartufo. Vino della casa senza alcuna offesa. Che dire? Grazie!!!

25/08/2024: Ho preso presso questo bar praticamente il miglior caffè del lago di Barrea.
Tutti gli altri bar mi hanno servito un caffè che praticamente non aveva gusto.
06/08/2024: Ho chiesto due Schweppes tonica al limone, una cedrata ed una coca cola. In tutti i bar portano le bottiglie o le lattine ed a parte l'idoneo bicchiere cilindrico con ghiaccio. Hanno invece servito 4 calici da vino già riempiti. A parte il fatto che non era Schweppes (si capiva dal gusto e se non l'avevano bastava dirlo), ma in un calice da vino (erano quelli piccoli) non ci entra il ghiaccio ed una bottiglietta di schweppes. Certamente nello stesso calice non ci entra una lattina di coca-cola o una bottiglietta di cedrata, sempre con ghiaccio. Non mi rovino la giornata con una discussione su così poco (parola veramente idonea al riguardo) visto che comunque mi hanno servito qualcosa di idoneo, ma di certo rimango deluso per la furbata di utilizzare le bottiglie grandi da festa di compleanno in dosi non standard. Meritano una recensione insufficiente; peccato il locale è carino e ci sarei tornato, ma eviterò.

31/07/2023: Volevo lasciare due righe per questa nuova esperienza presso il meraviglioso B&B di Mario!
Siamo stati accolti da questa persona cordiale e genuina che ci ha fatti sentire subito "a casa". La zona è a pochi passi dalla strada che porta al centro e difronte c'è un bellissimo ristoro immerso nel verde!
La zona è molto silenziosa, entrando nel b&b si ha come l'impressione di stare in una piccola oasi paradisiaca, con piscina e gazebo. Le stanze si trovano praticamente all'entrata, a dir poco meravigliose! La cura dei dettagli, la pulizia, la pace che emanano quelle stanze vi farà venire voglia di restare lì per tutta la vita! (Non ricordo di aver mai dormito cosí bene).
La mattina c'è la colazione, il sig. Mario vi accoglierà in questa deliziosa saletta che somiglia ad una baita! La colazione offre buonissime torte, crostate e biscotti, il tutto accompagnato da bevande calde che possono essere preparate sul momento e da svariati succhi.
L'ospitalità è stata la parte piu bella del nostro pernottamento, non ci eravamo mai sentiti cosí ben accolti, vi ringraziamo di cuore per tutto!
Torneremo sicuramente, perché si torna sempre dove si è stati davvero bene. 🌷

The hotel is nestled in a stunningly beautiful setting, and the management is very professional and offers family hospitality. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The food is excellent, varied, and generous. An experience worth repeating.
1
