Velando In Roma

Very good restaurant in the center, a stone's throw from San Pietro. You can find classic Roman dishes but also "out of town" excursions such as ossobuco alla Milanese, pizzoccheri and more. I must say that everything was done with great care and above all with quality raw materials. Good wine list. Impeccable and refined service. The only flaw: arm yourself with patience for parking, but it's worth it.

Perfect place. A couple's restaurant. They personally serve guests. Very tasty pie, delicious ravioli. Plus, we forgot our raincoats and the owners kept them until we returned, thank you very much for that!

Very nice atmosphere and very good food. The quantities are good and there is variety.

Ristorante Velando was a bit disappointing, though the staff was really very friendly and helpful. We started with the meatballs with ginger mayonnaise and the salmon tartare. The meatballs were more like croquettes (breaded & fried) than what I would consider a meatball (a ball of meat!). The mayo with ginger did not enhance the flavor and only provided more heaviness to the individual 'meatballs'. The salmon tartare was the favored dish. It was fresh and had a nice citrus balance. I ordered the prawns [shrimp] with vegetables and ginger. There were no vegetables anywhere. The prawns were nicely cooked and sat on a what appeared to be a puree of ginger puree. Maybe the vegetables were pureed into the ginger paste. I'm not sure. There was a descent amount of prawns but although they were cooked nicely, the ginger puree, if taken with a bite of the prawns, had a strange texture - a bit crunchy with a definite aroma of ginger in a gooey base! I did not hate the dish but also did not love it either. Others at my table ordered the Ossobuco, a Lombardi specialty. It was served on risotto. I'm told it was ok but nothing spectacular. The other two at my table ordered the COD, which came in a deep dish. One liked it, the other said it was ok. I ordered sambuca instead of dessert. There were NO coffee beans in the sambuca. It is traditionally served with 3 coffee beans for 'good luck'. No luck that night! The service was great. The food was sadly very average. With two bottles of wine in addition to the above items the bill was about 275 Euro with gratuity. Because of the food quality I will unfortunately be rating this restaurant with 3 stars.

Acierto para comer, la comida es casera y el servicio muy bueno. Además tuvo el camarero tuvo un detalle con el vino.

Locale molto intimo e accogliente, proprietari molto ospitali e cibo squisito con porzioni abbondanti, equilibrio nei sapori accompagnati da ottimi accoppiamenti di vino. Ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo

Très bon dans une rue confidentielle. A recommander loin des attrapes touristes. Fait maison et authentique. Très bon spritz
