Unterschattmair In Tirolo

I came for dinner… Getting there isn't exactly easy: the road is narrow and a bit challenging, but once you arrive, you're rewarded with a beautiful view of the valley and Merano. The food is truly excellent, and the chef is brilliant. We tried some excellent canederli, the beetroot gnocchi with feta and horseradish, which were truly delicious, and the cheese-filled ravioli with chanterelle mushrooms, which were equally delicious. The mixed seafood was also very well prepared. The wine list is good, the service is friendly and attentive, and, above all, excellent value. If I were to return to Merano, this would definitely be a must-try. Highly recommended!

This was our eighth stay at the Unterschattmair, and we are always thrilled. The view from the beautiful terrace or the balconies of the rooms is simply unique and always sets the standard when we look for accommodations in other mountain regions. The recent renovations have been a great success, and the new infinity whirlpool (the water is drained every evening and refilled overnight for the next day) is a real bonus in the already lovely pool area. The Waibl family are wonderful hosts and put their heart and soul into what they do, just like the lovely Marika, who has been part of the fantastic team since our first visit. Their son Matthias has also joined the team and, with his open and cheerful personality, is another great addition to the whole group. The food is delicious every day, and I am especially pleased that my gluten intolerance is taken into account and alternatives are always prepared for me. This allows me to enjoy the food without worry – something that isn't always a given, and I therefore appreciate it immensely. We booked the classic panorama room (as in previous years) and simply feel at home there. The furniture is high-quality, the beds very comfortable, and everything is kept spotlessly clean and in perfect condition by housekeeping. In short: My husband and I would love to vacation in other regions of South Tyrol sometime, but we just can't tear ourselves away from the Unterschattmair and will certainly be back for our ninth wonderful stay soon. We managed to snag a room at Hotel Unterschattmair at short notice while passing through, and what can I say? We felt comfortable and welcome from the very first moment. The hosts are incredibly warm and run their hotel with great attention to detail. The rooms and pool area are newly and beautifully renovated. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious, so we felt right at home as a family. The food was delicious, especially the many homemade products. The multi-course dinner, which we enjoyed with a fantastic view of Merano from the terrace, was truly wonderful. The fact that our children were treated so warmly and not just accepted, as we've experienced in other hotels, is something we'll remember most fondly. Thank you for the wonderful stay; we'd love to come back!

We had a wonderful week at Hotel Unterschattmeier and can wholeheartedly recommend it. We were particularly impressed by the newly renovated rooms, the fantastic location with its stunning views, and the welcoming, family atmosphere. The absolute highlight, however, was the cuisine – every day we enjoyed freshly prepared, incredibly delicious dishes made with great attention to detail. We have never experienced such quality and flavor in any other hotel. We would love to return!

This family-run hotel impresses with its exceptional warmth and service, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The rooms are superbly equipped, spotlessly clean, and offer truly breathtaking views. The food is an absolute highlight: The owner conjures up delicious dishes every day, each one a delight! And then there's the excellent, estate-grown wine – simply perfect. The pool area is also fantastic, especially the infinity whirlpool with its panoramic view, which is incredibly inviting. Friendliness and service are truly paramount here – you can't help but feel completely at ease! 🤭
