Trecca - Cucina di Mercato In Roma

The restaurant is small and welcoming, but we waited an hour between appetizers and first courses... I expected better, more punctual service. I understand and appreciate that Roman tradition has deep roots and a cuisine historically heavily tied to meat. For this very reason, however, I believe it's important to also consider how eating habits are changing: more and more people are choosing to reduce or eliminate meat, not only out of necessity, but also out of a changing sensitivity to nutrition and the environment. Including a few vegetarian or vegan dishes on the menu, conceived with the same care and creativity as traditional dishes, could be a great way to bring Roman cuisine into dialogue with the present, without betraying its identity. Tradition, after all, is alive precisely when it evolves. It would be nice if they thought about it: even the most authentic cuisine can find new ways to express itself.

I can't express enough the sautéed chicory at this beautiful little restaurant, but it's poetry in the mouth! Viterbo chicken was also a must on a hot August night, with a refreshing Grechetto. Perfect service, I'll definitely be back!

Limited selection, but, for what we ate, the dishes were average. There's also a limited selection of wines by the glass. Very friendly service. Unfortunately, it's really too hot inside; the air conditioning doesn't do its job. Overall, the price is high for the experience.

Welcoming atmosphere, impeccable service, and truly excellent food. I had high expectations for Trecca, and as I expected, I had a truly wonderful time. The staff are super kind and helpful. Excellent wine selection, excellent quality and flavor of the dishes. I will definitely be back. ❤️🙏🏻

It was probably a very unfortunate evening, but in 2026, you can't find a restaurant with inadequate or malfunctioning air conditioning. Maybe it was the difficult situation, but the experience truly fell short of our high expectations. Compliments to the wait staff, who remained consistently professional despite the difficult working conditions and the incredibly long waits between appetizers and main courses.

A wonderful and surprising neighborhood restaurant. The good air conditioners helped a little to escape the heat at noon. We had grilled lamb chops, beef tongue in salsa verde sauce, which were well made. The first courses were a surprise with garlic stalks in tomato and chicory sauce, which were excellent. And for dessert, the tiramisu was excellent!!
