Trattoria Serafino In Catania

The restaurant was recommended to us by a local restaurateur because we wanted to eat good fresh fish in a place not frequented by tourists. The experience was very positive; we were greeted by Massimo, who immediately showed us to our table and suggested we start with his appetizers. We tried raw shrimp, mussels au gratin, fried fish, and raw anchovies... all very good, fresh, and plentiful. We then decided to continue with two first courses: spaghetti with squid ink and their signature dish, spaghetti with sea urchin pulp, both impeccable. Finally, they brought us two delicious sorbets. To accompany the entire dinner, we enjoyed a delicious Anthilia from Donnafugata. The cost of the dinner was more than justified by the quantity and quality of the food, including a bottle of wine at a great price. Totalling €70 for two people.

Trattoria Serafino da Massimo was one of the best dining experiences we had in Catania. The appetizers were absolutely incredible – huge portions, beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The pasta was outstanding, and both the fish and the prawns were perfectly cooked and delicious. We were there with our baby and the staff were extremely kind, welcoming and very friendly towards us. The atmosphere felt warm, relaxed and truly authentic – like visiting real Italian friends who genuinely care that you enjoy your time. We will definitely come back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food, great hospitality and a wonderful Italian experience in Catania! 🇮🇹

This place is great ! Yes you do need to make a reservation- and probably have to go in person to make one. Even though it’s 8 pm & only one table is full all the tables are reserved. Incredible fresh seafood at very reasonable prices. A must try in Catania, on the way out we booked a table for next week !!

Decent dinner but nothing exceptional... a place for tourists

While exploring Catania, we arrived at the doors of this Trattoria, which invited us to try its menu. It was undoubtedly an excellent choice. Tasty and hearty dishes at a good price. Pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere with excellent service, even in our own language we were able to understand each other. Thankful from Argentina! Bringing the flavors of pasta and fish to our families ❤️

My favorite restaurant in Catania! I return every time I'm in town and am always happy with the food and service. The prices are fair and reasonable, and the fish is incredibly fresh. Highly recommended!

A trip back in time with an authentic Sicilian atmosphere. The staff is kind. The food is fresh and delicious. The fried calamari was the best I have ever eaten.
