Trattoria San Giovanni In Ivrea

We got a table at short notice on Sunday afternoon. Spaghetti with tomato sauce was cooked for the children, which was not on the regular menu. The menu was heavy on fish and mushrooms, but quite good.

Had a family dinner, impeccable, food, service, hospitality, and more. I recommend it 100/100.

Family dinner, family-run. From the outside, it looks a bit so-so, and inside, it's a bit dated, but don't be fooled by appearances; everything was good. We had a lovely meal, and the food was well-prepared. I highly recommend it for a lovely evening or lunch. Plus, there's convenient parking behind the restaurant.

Discovered by chance while arriving in Ivrea for a guided tour of Olivetti. The atmosphere is simple but welcoming. Excellent food, traditional and local dishes with ingredients I wasn't familiar with. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Excellent Piedmontese food, we ate very well

I dined with my wife at Trattoria San Giovanni, and the experience was overall decent, but with some room for improvement. The welcome and service were good: friendly staff and prompt service throughout the dinner. The on-site parking was also appreciated, which is certainly convenient. As for the food, we ordered typical Piedmontese dishes (as you can see from the photos), well-presented but without any particular distinguishing features in terms of quality or flavor to justify the asking price. Overall, the dishes were average. A negative note was given to the bread and breadsticks: the breadsticks were industrial-quality and the bread was hard, details that in a trattoria impact the overall experience. Also noteworthy were the Spritzes, which were a bit watered down and had too much ice, lacking in balance. The final bill was 68 euros for two people (two dishes each, water, and two Spritzes), which seems rather high when compared to the overall value of the experience, also considering a location outside the historic center and rather simple furnishings.
