Trattoria La Ca' Basa In Viano

You wouldn't expect a trattoria this good to be attached to a tobacco shop. Unpretentious local spot with good food for a fair price. If you like mushrooms you'll love it. Apparently they pick the mushrooms in the woods behind the restaurant. Also, best gnocco Frito we had in all of reggio Emilia. They use a kind of whole grain flour, they taste amazing on their own (but even better with prosciutto). The black tortelli were a knockout as well. Monica was a lovely host, we had great conversations with her even though we don't speak Italian :) While the staff doesn't speak english, we were lucky enough to have translators on hand both evenings, thank you Luca and Willy! Prices were more than fair.

A traditional trattoria with high-quality à la carte dishes. A trio of tortelli are truly amazing.

Delicious fresh pasta. The bigoli alla finanziera with game, mushrooms, and truffle were a dream 🥹🥹🥹 The cappellacci stuffed with asparagus and topped with guanciale were also delicious. The wild boar stew was also delicious, with lots of bread to mop up. Everything was excellent and very reasonably priced.

A lovely, well-run place. Excellent food and fast service. Definitely worth a visit for a quick break or a longer culinary experience. Lots of choice, and everything is delicious.
