Tried this characteristic restaurant for the first time which has a beautiful location, many tables available, also with a river view if desired, the menu is characterized by local mountain specialties I recommend the fabulous pizzoccheri but also the meat is cooked perfectly and high quality service (like the restaurant) is managed by Argentinian guys in a fast and professional way.

Nice environment
Friendly staff
In my opinion, the pizzoccheri were slightly bland and with little melted cheese
The only flaw: very long to serve, between the first course and the second we waited over 40 minutes.

Really kind and attentive staff, characteristic place, very nice and clean and the pizzoccheri that my wife and I had last night, to tell the truth we didn't find them so good even in the nearby crotti. A sincere thank you to the owner Ramona, who despite it being a Saturday evening and we hadn't booked, still welcomed us.

Excellent food, friendly staff but in high season maybe a couple more waiters wouldn't hurt. Abundant rations as well as high quality. Nice venue

We had dinner in this very central restaurant in Chiavenna, on the terrace with the company of the flowing water of the river below.
We had an appetizer, two first courses and two second courses and everything was quite good but not extraordinary. We were not totally satisfied with the service which was a bit impersonal. But the thing that didn't work at all was the choice of wine(!)… we asked for a white from the area, but they didn't have it and then we discovered that they didn't have any of the three wines from the area on the list(!)… they gave us brought an unidentified white wine from the Langhe, saying it was a Tuscan wine(!) …
We love the Langhe and we know that you generally can't go wrong with the wine from those parts... we therefore accepted the proposal, after having corrected the waitress about the region of origin... bad choice(!)... too bad because everything was in the right direction for a beautiful evening.

Wonderful meal, we had homemade pasta and as main course some of the best meat you’ll ever have. Sitting on the balcony along the river, drinking local wine by the glass was an added bonus. Must try when in Chiavenna.

Located between the attractive, pedestrianised main street and the river the restaurant 'Mercato' (market) offers a lot of Argentinian meat, as we could see from the menu card. Our choice though was as a starter a 'Gnocchetti alla Chiavenna', thus a mixture of potatoes, stale bread, flour, butter, local cheese, garlic, topped by cooked salvia leaves. The other starter was 'Penne alla Carretiera', a Sicilian pasta dish for my grandson, while my wife had a Vegetable Soup.
As main course my grandson and me went for the daily special, thus a 'Hamburger di Angus ai Ferri con Pancetta croccante', while my wife went for 'Sminuzzato di Vitello (chopped veal) con Curry', almost Zurich's signature dish 'Kalbsgeschnetzeltes' (without the curry, but with mushrooms). We ended the meal with a fruit salad (Macedonia di Frutta) and a glass of Grappa bianca.
