We had the daily special. The food was very good, and the service was prompt and friendly. The terrace overlooking the Mera River is wonderful. We'd gladly return.

A pleasant place, actually—but the service is arrogant and the food is unfortunately poor. A shame!

Visited twice during our stay in Chiavenna and I'd say that this was our favourite restaurant. For our party of 5 People, each dish that we had was excellent, the highest quality. The Gnocchi Quattro Formagio was just exquisite, like little fluffy pillows of heaven in the tastiest cheese sauce I've ever had. My next dish was Taglioni with porcini and walnuts in chestnut sauce - a little out of my comfort zone as I'm not usually keen on walnuts or chestnuts - it was absolutely gorgeous! On both visits my daughter had the Schnitzel and it was huge with flavour to match and with a very generous portion of fries, fantastico! Desserts were also delicious and a perfect end to each meal. All of this was topped off with excellent service, so friendly and patient and our wonderful lady server from our first visit recognised my daughter and her grandfather in the street the next day and gave them a hearty greeting! A lot places have great food, but great people and service are what make somewhere special. Thank you Trattoria del Mercato! Oh, also, they have the best breadsticks I've ever had, as well!

The restaurant is highly recommended – lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and super delicious food. We especially enjoyed the ravioli!
