Da Romano is more than a restaurant: it’s a Burano institution. Four generations of the Barbaro family have run it since Romano turned his bottega into a trattoria around 1920. The walls are crowded with paintings, a legacy of the artists who dined here from the 1930s onwards. The food lives up to the history: a wood-grilled plate of sea bass, bream, monkfish and prawn (8.5/10); a briny-fresh frittura mista of Adriatic fish and vegetables (8/10); and the signature risotto al nero di seppie - deep, poised, umami-rich (8.5/10). Tiramisu was lighter, coffee-shy (7/10). Bussolai biscuits, meringue cake and a rare santonego grappa closed the meal - rooted in Burano, straight from the lagoon.

We ate pizza, the pizza capricciosa was delicious, with thin crust. Unfortunately, the salami pizza had pieces of sausage. Is that what they call salami? 😄

A great restaurant with 100+ years of history
This particular gentlemen, assisted us for lunch and we really felt the pride and joy he has.
Risotto was good
Lemon Meringue was good
Food was perfect.
Most important the people, would recommend you to come !

A legendary restaurant, with exceptional service and very good food and wine selection. Honestly the best experience I have had in a restaurant as a customer for a long time, they make you feel special which is rare these days and are extremely professional. Highly recommended!

Great restaurant in Burano. Shrimp risotto and calamari were both great. Really enjoyed the calamari as it was a perfect amount of breading and had great flavor w lots of meaty pieces.
Came for Lunch on a Sunday and no wait to sit outside (inside was pretty empty). Outside service could use another waiter as I could tell the two working there were very busy.

We had lunch at Romano after our wine tasting and we enjoyed it. The waiters were attentive and friendly. We were a group of 14 and the restaurant was rather busy, but they did a good job with our table.
The food was also good. We had risotto, fritto misto and fish which we all enjoyed. The cocktails and dessert were also good.
The prices were reasonable as well. We would return.

À chaque fois pendant notre séjour à Venise nous ne manquons pas ce restaurant. Il est préférable de réserver. Spécialité des produits de la mer. Un des rares endroits où vous pouvez déguster des petits crabes bleus pendant la saison, exceptionnel. Un très beau service et un personnel agréable.
À ne pas manquer.

Ci siamo fermati per un pranzo. Possibilità di pranzare all'aperto sulla piazza o nella sala interna. Risotto al nero di seppia buono. Purtroppo nel nostro caso il servizio è stato veramente lungo. Da migliorare il servizio ai tavoli.
