There's not much to say... I ordered pasta with sea urchins twice! My partner had never had it before and loved it. We arrived late (10 PM on Monday) because we were on a hike, so we called beforehand to make sure we could have dinner. Despite the hour, they welcomed us warmly and had us eating right away. I read in the reviews that the portions aren't generous: to be clear, compared to other more touristy places, that's true, but those are excessive and I can't finish them... so I think it's a question of expectations. But it's not a flaw! Precisely because the dishes are loaded with sauce (the pasta with sea urchins had so much fish - and it was real sea urchins!! Everything... which they often mix up) the prices? They're not high... it depends on the dish you order: it's perfectly normal for some ingredients to cost more. The staff was friendly and kind the whole time. I'm sorry I didn't take photos because I was too hungry 😆

Magnificent setting, very welcoming staff. The only downside: the price of the pasta dish (€20 for pistachio pesto pasta and €20 for shrimp pasta). They're decent, but for €20 a dish, we expected better. (There's a penalty for the countless shrimp to peel if you don't like them crunching.)

Excellent food, ambience and service. The best meal we had on Stromboli. We wanted to go back a second time but unfortunately they were already full. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful lunch as soon as we arrived in Stromboli at Trattoria ai Gechi! The food was really good (we tried a couple of appetizers and the fresh pasta) and the view was spectacular. The service was pleasant, efficient, and above all welcoming. We really enjoyed it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic and unforgettable experience! Trattoria Ai Gechi is simply fantastic. The atmosphere is unique, with friendly geckos keeping you company. Nino, the owner, and his team are very kind and helpful, making you feel at home. The food is excellent: generous seafood appetizers, flavorful pasta alla Stromboliana, and fresh fish grilled to perfection. Everything is authentic and flavorful, using traditional Sicilian recipes. The fish, in particular, is very good; it's personally selected by Nino (a fisherman and sea dog 😉). The price is more than fair for the quality. Reservations are mandatory!

Years ago, I was disappointed by the food, but this year I tried again. My kids, their friends, and I had a great meal and were treated so kindly (which is obviously expected in a restaurant), that we brought it back to other friends a few days later. A few nights ago, we arrived and asked if we could upgrade from an 8 to a 9, and the owner replied, "Too bad for you!" Later, when I asked if the seafood salad could be ordered without shrimp (for an allergy), he was more than annoyed. I asked for a glass of wine, which was a little off, and asked if I could have another, but he also intervened rudely... and the wine and glass arrived 10 minutes into the dinner. The guy, on the other hand, was super nice! I later found out, from several people's accounts, that he wasn't just rude to me. Too bad! I'm replying below because I can't help it. The review was written from my son's profile; I couldn't from mine. I really appreciated your response, even though, despite your slightly gruff demeanor, customers appreciate being treated with more courtesy. We'll almost certainly see each other again next year; then, over a good bottle of wine, I'd love to hear anecdotes about our beloved island. Goodbye, and see you soon.

Stromboli is already a fantastic place, but add dinner at this trattoria and everything will be perfect. Excellent dinner, a charming location, and what more can I say than "highly recommended"? Be sure to book in advance, otherwise you won't find a table. We'll definitely be back.

Non capita spesso di trovare un ristorante che riesca a combinare cucina e materia prima in modo eccellente. Il servizio impeccabile, attento, presente, ma mai invadente. Il proprietario ci ha spiegato ogni piatto con passione, raccontandoci la storia dei produttori e dei pescatori locali. Una location incantevole “Ai Gechi” Appena varcato l’ingresso, si viene accolti da un’atmosfera magica: una terrazza immersa nel verde, con vista sul mare e sulle luci dell’isola, il tutto avvolto in un silenzio rarefatto che profuma di natura e mare. Il luogo perfetto per dimenticare il mondo. Il cibo semplicemente straordinario. Abbiamo iniziato con un antipasto misto freschissimo, equilibrato, composto da vari assaggi come parmigiana involtino di pesce, tonno con cipolla, gamberetti di nassa, spada, tonno, acciughe scampo e gambero rosso. I primi sono stati un crescendo: pasta alla Nino (con tonno affumicato, ricotta salata, rucola e pomodorini) e una pasta con totani da urlo, un’esplosione di sapori mediterranei, perfettamente bilanciati. Cozze 10 e lode in qualità e cottura, sughetto degno del pane home Made. Dolci fatti in casa semifreddo alla mandorla, cannoli ed una malvasia d altri tempi. Carta dei vini curata, con etichette siciliane e alcune chicche naturali. Il prezzo assolutamente adeguato alla qualità ed alla location ogni euro speso è stato ripagato da un’esperienza sensoriale completa. Se sei a Stromboli, non andarci sarebbe un delitto gastronomico. Ci torneremo sicuramente

Ieri sera siamo stati a cena in questo locale e, come le altre volte siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti. Ogni volta che veniamo a Stromboli non manchiamo di tornarci. Eccellenti gli involtini di spatola e pesce spada nonchè la pasta alla Nino. Secondo noi il migliore ristorante a Stromboli. Bravi !!!!

19/08/2025: This place embodied what keeps Sicily from standing out above all others. A dinner for vacationers with a craving for meat. Five of us showed up and were seated at a table inside, which I was forced to appreciate, despite the heat and the mere presence of fans, since everywhere outside, people are still allowed to smoke rudely in front of those eating. People need to be legally obligated; respect and civic duty are nonexistent. Luckily, we were first to arrive, even though it was 8:00 PM. So, no delays with service. We skipped the first courses, ordering three appetizers to share and five second courses: fillets, tagliata, veal cheek, as well as a good 2017 Sicilian wine. All excellent. What's the flaw? The side dish for the two beef fillets, as per the menu, was "ash-fried potatoes"; the other three second courses included mashed potatoes. When the dishes arrived, they all contained mashed potatoes. Naturally, we prefer to eat hot, but as soon as one of the staff approaches, I ask why the side dish was changed from the menu, adding with a smile, "Maybe the chef didn't feel like making the potatoes à la citron." Unless I misunderstood, I was told the chef was on vacation and was handed the menu so I could verify what I was already sure of. Nothing more. I don't apologize for the forced change, but at least offer a half-word to justify it. Nothing at all. At the end of the dinner, I ask another woman in the dining room about it, who tells me they had a reception at lunch that messed everything up. End of excuse... But can you? If I order a pizza with chopped cherry tomatoes, can you just bring it to me with the sauce and not care? It's still tomato, right? What was the point of coming to the table before the dishes arrived and saying a few words about it? Who would have objected? Oh well, in Sicily, simmu cussi! I pay the bill, after pointing out the extra glass of wine I'd ordered before opting for the bottle, which is promptly deducted. I thank them for the excellent meat (not the side dish), say goodbye, and leave. Nothing is missing from achieving excellence. Except, perhaps, it doesn't matter. And as a native of the island, that's precisely what bothers me.
