Most wonderful restaurant dining experience. Chef Andra stopped by to tell us her specials for the evening, and we ordered most of those- and it was incredible!
3 minute walk from the Vatican museum. Sadly hidden due to some construction on the street.
Absolutely best meal we had in a week in Italy.
Best antipasti: zucchini flowers stuffed with shrimp.
Best pasta special - with house made fettuccine.
Best secondi - the special for the night. A tuna tataki.
Best tiramisu, made to order.
Always special to get to talk with the chef at a restaurant of this caliber, and just so nice to get to tell her how wonderful the meal was.

Tocco Ferro is a wonderful restaurant we went to while visiting family in the Trionfale neighborhood of Rome. There were six of us at dinner and all of the food was exceptional. The seafood was amazing. The owners were very gracious and welcoming and made us feel quite at home. While the restaurant is a little off the beaten path with a bit of construction currently, it is definitely worth the effort to find this gem!

One of the finest meals we had in Rome was at Tocco Ferro in the Trionfale neighborhood.
My husband and I are both vegetarian. The delightful owner/chef easily accommodated us and explained our options in English as we speak little Italian. The appetizer (artichoke) and main dishes (fettuccine, asparagus, tomatoes and a delicious sauce and a pesto gnocchi dish ) were perfect and the tiramisu was amazing - the best I’ve ever had! It’s a little tricky to find on a side street (due to construction) but worth the effort! We’ll be going back to Tocco Ferro next time we are in Rome.

We found this almost by accident and we were very pleased we did. Don't be put off by the scaffolding and building works outside, this is a gem of a place. The food is wonderful and different from most ordinary restaurants.
Treat yourself.

The beef slice is really thin, and the portion is decidedly small. The flavor is good, but it was gone before I could fully appreciate it.

A friend and I went to Toccoferro for dinner. The food was adequate: we ordered puntarelle and an appetizer platter with a homemade touch. The effort to offer quality was evident.
A good culinary concept that deserves a more refined setting and more... personal service.
The experience falls short for two main reasons:
The ambiance: The place feels somewhat neglected. Upon entering, our "old school" vibe crosses the line into being unappealing, detracting from the experience, especially due to the condition of the furniture.
The service: It was quite bland, "uninspired." We found the service functional but lacking in enthusiasm.
Perfect, the best tiramisu in the world.
Everything was fantastic, seafood was perfect.

Delicious pasta and very friendly service. Currently (February 2026), the place is obscured by scaffolding and difficult to find, but it's definitely worth it, especially after a few hours of exploring the museum.

Delicious cacio e pepe and carbonara, friendly service, and a short wait. The restaurant was covered in scaffolding when we visited. It's definitely worth seeking out and eating at this restaurant.
