Food was decent - nothing to rave about. The Panna Cotta was lovely. Staff was super friendly and helpful with Gluten free options.

We visited this spot around lunchtime, and while the food was delicious, it seemed they were a bit understaffed. Given that we came in a large group, the service was understandably slow, as we may have outnumbered the staff on hand. We enjoyed traditional Matera pasta, a flavorful beef dish, and finished with a delightful panna cotta for dessert. Each dish was well-prepared and truly captured the local flavors. Despite the slower service, I appreciated the cozy atmosphere and the quality of the food. Overall, it was a pleasant experience—just be prepared for a bit of a wait if you’re coming with a big group.

Place in a quieter position than the "nightlife" of the historic centre, but still easy to reach. We had dinner with two first courses and a dessert, a bottle of wine, all for €65 (the bottle cost €22). Two good first courses, excellent dessert, truly excellent service.

I guess we will not follow Ziggy’s advice anymore. This was a huge disappointment. Service and atmosphere were very pleasant but the food was below par. If you order the antipasto for 2, be aware that it’s enough for 4 to 6 people. We thought it would be small bites as we had in many other restaurants. I asked to cancel my primi because it was so much food but the chef said my primi was “ ready”. Really? It came 30 minutes later and I barely ate any. Everything we ate was just ok. We had much better food at other places in Matera.

No employee came for ages, the QR code didn't work because there was no reception in the cave, we couldn't get WiFi. Then finally after about 30 minutes there was a card.
The cold starters came first, they tasted very good, shortly afterwards the warm starters, we hadn't eaten the cold ones yet, the table was completely overcrowded, we lost interest in eating, although the warm starters were also very good, which was a shame.
How could it be otherwise, the main course came immediately afterwards.
The meat medallions were completely full of tendons and not eatable, the sauce was tasteless.
We weren't even asked if it was tasty, even though the plates were full.
Unfortunately not recommended, service doesn't work at all, sorry.

Everything is good in terms of food, environment and service. I ordered pork meat and panna cotta which is creative compared to other restaurants. The most important is tasty. (The owner/ chef teach me a new place in Italy - Senise which dry pepper on panna cotta is from there.)

Ristorante molto carino e facile da raggiungere. La location è buona perché è vero che non si affaccia sui sassi, ma si trova comunque su uno dei corsi principali, quindi si gode di una certa vitalità senza subire la confusione del pieno centro. Il cibo era ottimo, della tradizione ma ricercato. Rapporto qualità/prezzo onesto per essere una zona estremamente turistica. Il servizio eccellente, presente ma non invadente. In particolare, il nostro cameriere è stato davvero gentile, disponibile e professionale. Se ricapiteremo a Matera sicuramente ci torneremo!

Sono stato a cena in questo locale lunedì sera in compagnia di mio padre. Eravamo a Matera per lavoro e abbiamo scelto questo posto attratti dalla location scavata nella roccia e dal nome che ci ha incuriositi.
Il locale e molto bello, scavato nella roccia ed arredato con gusto. Il personale gentile e preparato ci ha consigliato un ottimo vino della casa abbinato a due antipasti e due primi davvero deliziosi.
Al momento del conto scambiare due chiacchiere con l’anziano titolare è stato altrettanto gradevole.
Tutto buonissimo e posto davvero da provare.
