The owner, chef also served us...everything uniquely Italian and gourmet at an extremely reasonable price. This restaurant is tucked away into a little neighborhood where we found it on a stroll by.

Excellent experience, we ate really well. Starter with aubergine flan, two tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms for my wife and me, a Florentine steak divided in two for the kids with a side salad. To finish, desserts include creme brulee and chocolate soufflé. All delicious, high quality raw materials cooked and prepared very well. The service is also excellent. A truly excellent experience at the end of a beautiful day spent in Florence.

This is a one man show! He is the chef and the server. All the food with good but the best part for me was the sharing of his homemade, less than a week old olive oil! It was like nothing I've had before. He wrapped it up by offering his homemade orangecello. If you want an authentic Italy experience and like seafood, this is the place.

On our last night in Florence, we decided we had to try a florentine steak at least once before we left. After a quick google search in our area, we saw a number of great reviews for Ristorante Lo Stravagante. We decided to pop in around 19:00 on a Saturday. At first we were the only patrons, but soon we were joined by a number of locals. The owner, who cooked and served the meal on his own, was so kind and warm in his welcome to us as he explained the menu. We had two delicious pasta dishes followed by the biggest steak I have ever eaten (could easily be shared by three people even!). Everything was well cooked and seasoned. We also enjoyed a nice Chianti with our meal. I was only sad that I was much too full to enjoy what looked to be amazing desserts too. If you are in the area (or if you are looking for a nice break from the crowds in the city center), so consider stopping in for a relaxed and delicious dinner. Molto bene!
