My girlfriend and I have road tripped across multiple cities in Italy and this restaurant was truly a highlight we remember fondly. Our first experience was so good, we had to come back a second day during our stay in Certaldo to eat here again. The food was well thought out, fast, and culinarily excellent. Both times we were served by Giovanni, the most remarkable waiter with the right mix of knowledge, humor and hospitality. If the food wasn’t enough reason, he made the whole experience an 11/10. We could not recommend this place enough. Anytime we’re in Tuscany, we WILL make the detour to have another meal here- and so should you. Ps. Please ask for Giovanni and give him our regards, you will not regret it.

A beautifully situated restaurant with excellent food and incredibly friendly service. We arrived on a Saturday evening without a reservation and were lucky that a couple hadn't shown up, so we got the best table at the edge of the terrace overlooking the lower town. The aperitifs, wines, and dishes—everything was perfect. We'll definitely be back. The prices are reasonable, not exorbitantly high.

The Il Castello restaurant in Certaldo Alto perfectly combines traditional Tuscan cuisine with modern techniques. I started with the gigli with guanciale, tomato, and pecorino: well-cooked pasta, a flavorful and balanced sauce, with a lovely contrast between the freshness of the tomato and the intensity of the guanciale. For my second course, the rostinciana CBT: impeccably cooked, the tender meat melts in your mouth, with a crispy, smoky crust that adds just the right amount of crispiness. I finished with a perfect crème brûlée: a thin, crispy surface that breaks with the spoon, revealing a smooth, aromatic cream. The service was courteous and attentive, and the location alone is worth the visit: breathtaking views of the Tuscan hills. An experience I recommend to anyone seeking quality, authenticity, and a touch of refinement.

It would be a mistake to visit Tuscany and not visit Certaldo Alto. One of the most charming villages in the region. It would also be a mistake, if you do visit, to miss out on lunch or dinner at Hotel Restaurant Il Castelló. Without a doubt, the best dining option in the region. A charming space with classic yet surprising cuisine, led by Adela, a fantastic hostess under whose direction the stay at the restaurant becomes an unforgettable experience. My wife and I had dinner in this enchanting place, steeped in history and nestled in Certaldo, with a breathtaking view and top-notch cuisine. We had met there for Christmas lunch, which I have fond memories of, especially for Adela's kindness. She described all the dishes to us and helped us experience this location, which is charming inside during the day with the fireplace lit, but equally so in the evening with soft lighting and background music. A romantic restaurant, located in an outdoor courtyard covered by charming ancient porticoes. The atmosphere is refined yet informal, perfect for a romantic dinner but also suitable for families: the courtyard allows children to roam and play in peace. The cuisine is top-notch: we sampled the pork shank, incredibly tender thanks to the long cooking time, and the cockerel, with its pleasant, slightly smoky aroma and enriched with spices that made it truly delicious. A place worth a try: spending a few euros more here means guaranteeing an excellent culinary experience in a special setting.
