Breathtaking views, combined with enjoyable trails to tackle, both equipped and carefree. All under the dominant eye of the Matterhorn.... The magic of nature.

We couldn't wait to return, and it's always an incredible experience. The resort is huge and truly allows you to ski without ever repeating the same slopes, with connections between Italy and Switzerland and continuous views of the Matterhorn.
The slopes are long and well-groomed, with plenty of variety for all levels, and the lifts allow you to easily move between the different areas. The very high altitude, up to almost 3,900 meters, often guarantees excellent snow quality throughout the season.
One of the largest resorts in the Alps, with hundreds of kilometers of connected slopes between Cervinia, Valtournenche, and Zermatt, making every day different and spectacular.
An absolute confirmation: it's hard to find such a complete place for skiing.

I had a day and a half snowboarding in this area with the rest in Zermatt. The facilities here are dated compared to Zermatt but the connections between the lifts makes it fairly easy to move around.
There are three main areas: Valtourneche, Breuil gondola/cable car and the Cervinia chair lifts. Valtourneche is quite isolated and you need to get up to Cime Blanche to be able to cross to Cervino. This involves catching the gondola from the base and taking three chairs up to Colle Superiore. You can probably spend a day in the area with pistes of varying degrees of difficulties.
The Breuil base was far from the village so it was quite isolated. It does have both a cable car and a gondola to take people up to Plan Maison, which is the central area in Cervino.
From Plan Maison, you can head down to Breuil or Cervinia. You can also catch a gondola to Cime Blanche to get to Valtourneche. Cime Blanche has a cable car which heads to Plateau Rosa to get you into Zermatt. There is also a set of three chairlifts in Plan Maison (Plain Maison, Fornet and Bontadini) which goes up to Theodulpass, giving another option for getting into Zermatt. Just be mindful that the lifts between Cervino and Zermatt close earlier than the other lifts.
From the Cervinia base, there is a chairlift which takes you just under Plan Maison so you need to take the Pancheron chairlift to get high enough to ride to Plan Maison.
It was fairly windy when I was there so the Zermatt side was quite icy in some places. This wasn't an issue in Cervino. I found the snow quality better and it was more fun to ride due to the nice powdery snow. Due to time constarints I wasn't able to ride from the top to the bottom in one go, but it would have been quite easy with the way the pistes have been groomed. It also gives a closer view of the Matterhorn compared to Zermatt. The general alpine views weren't as nice though.
It was definitely a worthwhile stop, and it was a fun place to ride even though it is smaller than Zermatt. Two or three days can give you a taste of it and more to fully enjoy it.

Of the many resorts I've been to, this one is the worst because of the service. The chaos that reigns here is indescribable. Beautiful weather, clear skies, a bit of wind at the top, and 100 people waiting in line from 8:30 to 11:00 to buy any kind of lift pass. The connection to the Swiss side is a joke; the last lift back is at 2:30 PM, while they can start selling lift passes at the regular price at 11:00 AM, of course. In the four days I was here, the connection to Switzerland was open only once. Other than that, the views are beautiful, the slopes are fantastic; the only problem is the management. Paradoxically, the organization is much better in Valtournenche than in Breuil-Cervinia.

In November 1993, I came skiing by bus from Milan.
I changed buses in Châteillon.
It was a 2-night, 3-day trip, and I skied one day. It snowed on the night of the first day, which was lucky for skiing.
I brought my ski boots from Japan and rented skis and poles.
The ski run from the Swiss border at 4000m down to the town was fantastic.
Japanese ski resorts are narrow and short, so this was a very enjoyable skiing experience.
For those skiing the next day, there were lockers available at the gondola's intermediate station where you could leave your skis.

The Cervino ski resort is one of the best ski resorts in the Alps and offers a truly unique experience. It lies beneath the iconic Matterhorn mountain and connects Cervinia in Italy with Zermatt in Switzerland, which means a huge number of slopes and beautiful views. The slopes are long, wide and perfectly groomed, so both beginners and advanced skiers will enjoy them. Another big plus is the high altitude, thanks to which the snow is of very good quality throughout the season.
The disadvantages can be the higher price of ski passes and accommodation, as well as the occasional strong winds in the higher parts. Overall, however, Cervino is a top resort that is worth a visit and offers unforgettable skiing in the heart of the Alps.

It's like Villa Catedral in Bariloche, but in Italy!
You can get there by skiing from Valtournenche, by car, or by bus (keep in mind that the buses don't run very frequently).

Amazing resort but would recommend staying on Zermatt side - lifts are better and weather conditions as well (pass is the same price) and Italy is more likely to close the international crossing.
The discount from staying Italian side is nice but doesn’t justify the fact that half the resort is likely to be closed for some (or all) of your visit, whilst Zermatt is fully open the entire period.
