I didn't think there was a restaurant inside the Pistoia Zoo where the food was so good. The tagliatelle with fresh porcini mushrooms was truly excellent, the fried mushrooms were spectacular, the desserts delicious, the service attentive and courteous, and the ambiance truly beautiful. I would go back even without visiting the zoo.

Questo ristorante è stata una piacevole sorpresa durante la visita allo zoo. La coda al bar era lunga per cui abbiamo provato questo. L’ambiente è molto carino con personale professionale e disponibile. Servizio veloce che con i bambini è particolarmente utile. I primi deliziosi, sia i testaroli che, in particolare, lo gnocco col tartufo. Le uova si quaglia al tartufo erano incredibili e pure l’agnello scottadito era molto buono. Se ritorneremo allo zoo a questo punto vogliamo provare le bistecche, quelle che abbiamo visto passare erano veramente belle.

18/05/2025: It's my historic restaurant. I've been going there practically for over 30 years. When it was on Via Empolese it was called Trattoria da Osvaldo, and I remember that it was an obligatory destination for truck drivers. With this I'll let you imagine the type of cuisine and the quality/quantity of the portions, basically what perfectly embodies the phrase "typical Tuscan cuisine". The ragù has now become a "must" also for my children who I bring there periodically. Fundamentally simple dishes but like grandmothers made them on Sunday lunch. They also make delicious pizzas for takeaway too. There is no world without Il Portico!
