Ristorante Coccorone In Montefalco

We've been coming here for years. The staff and the food are both solid, and they're two elements that can't be separated. The specialty is meat. Another specialty is the Maître d'. He makes the desserts, welcomes you, recognizes you, and always offers two dishes off the menu. Something we appreciate and try. The quality is unquestionable. The wines are unquestionable. The wine selection we request must exclude the usual winery known for its Sagrantino. There are dozens of local wineries that make a Sagrantino that's superior to the renowned ones, if not "marred" by the name. Take their advice and you'll find yourself in a new world. Price should be the least of your worries. Here, we're at the level of Michelin-starred cuisine.

Second visit, the restaurant really lived up to the reviews. This time I had grilled meat, the fillet with truffle was extraordinary. Everything was delicious with competent and polite staff. I will definitely be back.

Dining at Coccorone was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is welcoming and meticulously maintained, and the highlight is undoubtedly the open fireplace where the food is grilled. The staff is truly kind, professional, and affable. The food is exquisite: the cardoon parmigiana was an unexpected discovery, with its sublime sauce. I also highly recommend the tender meat, the gnocchi with goose ragù, and the scrambled eggs with truffles, tasty and quite generous. I had a truly wonderful time; it was a true pleasure. In my opinion, the prices are commensurate with what's on offer.

The grilled meats are a must, but the other dishes are equally excellent. Very attentive service, and the prices are average for the type of restaurant and service.

In the heart of Montefalco, formerly known as Coccorone, we chose the eponymous restaurant for lunch last Saturday. The atmosphere, with its brick vaults and rustic charm, evokes the history of the village and the local gastronomic culture. The attentive and friendly service led us through Umbrian culinary tradition. We sampled typical appetizers (veal tartare, celery parmigiana, polenta flan with fondue and mushrooms), excellent first courses such as pappardelle with Sagrantino wine, gnocchi with goose sauce, and a truly delicious lasagna with white ragù. For main courses, the guinea fowl on crostone (a type of crusty bread) thrilled my wife because it reminded her of the one her grandmother (also Umbrian) used to make. The Chianina steak was incredibly tender and was a fitting accompaniment to grilled porcini mushrooms. While the tiramisu and chocolate panna cotta were complete and exquisite desserts, the chocolate, pear, and rum cake raised the bar even higher. Throughout lunch, we drank only one glass of Sagrantino—warm, elegant, and full-bodied. Montefalco is the land of Sagrantino, and Coccorone celebrates it to the fullest. After lunch, we visited the Montefalco Museum, a must-see to complete an experience that combines flavor, art, and history. Recommended for those seeking authentic Umbrian cuisine and a deep connection to tradition.
