We went to the refuge yesterday after climbing Gavia for the first time. Excellent location, service, food, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. We'll be back next time.

Always worth a stop when driving over the Gavia Pass. Fantastic cappuccino, espresso, and just recently had homemade tagliatelle con Bolognese. Absolutely delicious 😋 Plus: the friendly, lovely people who serve you are absolutely worth stopping for.

We stayed at the Berni refuge after being turned away by the Bonetta refuge because we had a dog (it was impossible to eat outside due to the freezing weather), and... it was a delightful discovery. At the Berni refuge, we received a wonderful welcome and ate deliciously: when we return to the Gavia Pass, we'll definitely stay there!

You can take the Gavia Pass as part of a simple "passage" or you can stop and slow down. A rifugio, NOT a hotel, but a place that you can really enjoy...for more than just an espresso. No matter whether you're hiking, cycling or motorcycling... it's worth staying overnight. Since it is not a hotel, the acceptance of a simple overnight stay is required. No single or double rooms available, but depending on occupancy you get an entire room to yourself. There is a shared washroom and three toilets. The very friendly owners have looked after the refuge seasonally for generations, and the pass is closed to vehicles in winter. If you stay, you can choose half board (excellent regional food, well cooked!), a hearty breakfast, very good coffee. The deceleration begins when the evening falls...almost no one (apart from other guests) gets lost in the simple and cozy restaurant...you look out at the mountains, take in the peace and quiet of the entire surroundings...simply wonderful. I wish everyone the opportunity to stop there and then take a walk in the alpine surroundings early in the morning, well before breakfast. thank you dear Berni team!

The food was really good, and the staff was smiling and incredibly kind! Highly recommended.

We arrived with Luca at almost 2:00 PM. I ordered pizzoccheri and a berry tart, and he ordered strudel. Very kind, they offered us two jugs of water to fill our water bottles too, quick and efficient service. Pizzoccheri were amazing, the tart was delicious, and the strudel was absolutely beautiful, and Luca confirmed its deliciousness. I didn't have time to take a photo of the tart...😅. We'll definitely be back. Payment by card is super easy...so you don't have to carry around loose change, which weighs a lot and makes a difference...😅. P.S. We're cyclists. P.S. Luca said I swiped the pizzoccheri in 1'30"....I must have hit the jackpot. Few people will understand...🤣🤣🤣🤣. Thanks to the owners for everything.
