Retrobottega In Roma

I had a good experience at Retrobottega. It is not a traditional Roman restaurant. The kitchen uses Italian ingredients but prepares them in a more modern and creative way. It is a nice place if you want to try something different from the classic dishes you find around Rome. The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is good, and the food is prepared with care. I enjoyed my meal and would happily come back on a future visit to Rome

An incredible location, not only for the view and setting, but also for the ambience and design choices. The food absolutely lives up to all this and confirms the restaurant's exceptional cuisine. Congratulations!!

I love Retrobottega. I loved its more intimate version on Via d'Ascanio and I'm thrilled with this larger one on Via del Velabro. I'm honestly surprised by the negative reviews recently left by customers who, clearly, have no idea of ​​the work, research, and effort that goes into a restaurant with this kind of cuisine, the care that goes into every dish and every glass of wine. I've been to the new terrace twice since it opened (I should emphasize that they reopened less than a month ago) and I've found the same knowledgeable and friendly staff I'm used to, the same high-quality cuisine, and even more variety to choose from (the fact that the bar has its own dedicated menu and allows you to enjoy quality brunches and snacks, but less expensively, is a great asset in my opinion). To those who complain about disorganization, I remind them once again that they reopened in this NEW, very different and MUCH larger facility very recently, and no one is born knowing how to do it. That said, long live the backroom :)

Unfortunately, the information about the restaurant's opening hours is incorrect; these are the bar's opening hours; the restaurant closes during the day like everyone else ;)

Great atmosphere, very slow and disorganized service, food that was inconsistent but above average. There's still a way to go for fine dining. I'll be back, though.

Simply unique! The best risotto of my life, an exceptional chef, and young, friendly people. So kind, they even offered us a dish without asking. All this in a magical, Fellini-esque atmosphere. BRAVO!

A hidden gem in the ruins of Rome.

You can definitely tell the care that the owners give to the food and the drinks. On top of that you have an amazing view of Rome from the lovely terrace. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, a disappointing evening! The food and wine selection were good, but the service and organization were sadly lacking. We sat on the terrace, and the start was promising! The first round of wine arrived promptly, as did the appetizers. The bean salad and katsu were very good! Then the misery began. The service disappeared, so we couldn't even order more drinks. The risotto and tortelli finally arrived 70 minutes after the appetizers, and the dishes were cold. The service disappeared again, and based on our previous experiences, we waited patiently (60 minutes) for the main courses. These never arrived; they simply hadn't been ordered. We even had to actively seek this information. Overall, an experience that does not do justice to the cuisine on offer. A real shame!
