Excellent restaurant! We took the Sabotage menu: we start with 7 starters, fine in taste and full of research. This is followed by tortellini to die for and succulent pigeon. The meats were perfect, the sauces to die for. The recommended wines were very good, and without excessive prices.
Don't hesitate!

Retro Bottega is an absolute gem in Rome! It’s not just a fantastic wine bar but also serves excellent coffee. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for unwinding after a day in the city.
We enjoyed wonderful wine and coffee, both of exceptional quality. The selection of wines was impressive, and the coffee was rich and flavorful.
A special mention to the staff—though I can’t recall the name of our waiter, he was incredibly friendly and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a place to relax with great wine and coffee in Rome, Retro Bottega is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Let me start by saying that I will write a not very positive but certainly not destructive review, which for me is hyper objective. We went to Retrobottega on Saturday 2 November for lunch. We were taken to a couple of places at a so-called "social table" or something like that, which has very little that is social, as each small group is minding its own business, so I found the idea a bit pretentious for being a restaurant that presents itself as being of a certain level. I would also add that the idea of the cutlery hidden in the drawer, although it may seem like a nice and contemporary thing, in reality appears not very functional, difficult to open (you necessarily have to get up). Specifically, we were sitting in front of an American couple who were on the phone almost all the time and who limited themselves to saying "wow, awesome" with each course after the first 3 seconds of tasting, I wonder if so little time is enough to brain to process such information and give noteworthy/significant feedback. There being 2 of us, we opted for an "à la carte menu" taking the starters with egg and mushrooms and the other with squid, then just 2 first courses: cauliflower pasta and ravioli. I enjoyed the complimentary appetizer based on onion rings, something I don't usually like but which I found pleasant even without the slightest hint of flavor. In order of liking (from highest to lowest) I would say: appetizer with egg and mushrooms (a nice combination) but nothing "wow, awesome", the squid very light but with fairly balanced flavors (excellent sauce). We now come to the sore point (penultimate and last place): the first ones. As Italians we certainly demand the best, we already do this for every type of tavern and/or trattoria, but for a place of this type, we demand even more. We were very disappointed: the spaghetti with "caciolfiore" (excellent copywriting) was cooked just right but the cream was a bit heavy and the presence of copious quantities of ground coffee, although an original idea, definitely covered and clashed. As for the ravioli, the filling was non-existent (or almost) and they were definitely too salty, I was looking for my glass of water with every bite. The welcome wasn't bad (apparently informal), but it's not clear where you are, if on the one hand we have a restaurant chasing the star, on the other we have this sort of artificial "informality" which however clashes a bit with the above. I leave a generic rating of 3 stars out of 5. It is not a rating below sufficient, because overall it is clear that there is an attempt at refinement, but certainly not up to expectations. It's a shame, perhaps one less reel on Instagram and an extra eye on the big picture wouldn't hurt.
