We’ve visited this place several times for coffee or a glass of wine in the afternoon, and each time we’ve been impressed by the exceptional service and the high quality of the products. Recently, we came back for dinner and were equally delighted. The staff was extremely attentive to our dietary preferences (we’re vegetarians), and made sure to accommodate us with care and precision. The dishes were both flavorful and creative — a true culinary experience. Highly recommended, whether you’re stopping by for a casual drink or a full dinner.

We enjoyed a wonderful evening! We took the surprise menu and were surprised with many different small dishes, all delicious. Our hostess, a very friendly lady from Australia, served delicious wines and we had nice conversations with our table companions. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it!!

We had an outstanding evening at the RB! The service and location are a 10/10, but the food is an excellent 15/10! That wasn’t our last visit.

Retrobottega is a hidden gem in the heart of Rome, just steps from the Pantheon. We chose the "Sabotage" tasting menu, where surprise dishes crafted by the chefs made for an unforgettable experience. Highlights included marinated zucchini, crispy fried broccoli leaves, beef tongue (loved it!), a mushroom and tuna salad, sweetbreads with chicken heart, tender beef tenderloin, and a refreshing beetroot and tuna salad. Every dish showcased seasonal, foraged ingredients with incredible creativity and flavor. The open-kitchen setting, minimalist decor, and communal tables let you watch the chefs at work—chefs Alessandro Miocchi and Giuseppe Lo Iudice bring a Michelin-starred level of artistry here. The service was attentive and friendly, making the experience even better. If you're looking for an inventive, top-quality Italian meal that's a little different from the usual, Retrobottega is absolutely worth a visit. Make sure to reserve a spot at the chef’s counter for the full experience!

A piece of advice: if you eat at the bar, open the drawer to take out your cutlery and napkin before you sit down because the waitstaff won’t explain this important detail to you and you could eat your entire first course with your fingers and no napkin before you figure it out. The bar seating felt a bit claustrophobic but has a view of the kitchen. Very good selection of wines by the glass. The bread is good and the bread sticks excellent. I would not describe the food as a “drug”. The dishes are creative but lack finesse and somehow they don’t match the cursory menu descriptions. The overall experience is not elevated. I came away disappointed.

One of our best meals in Rome! We had the lamb chops and farm sausage with truffles. Both outstanding. The decor is modern and the music contemporary so be prepared.

Disfrutamos de una cena tardía en Retrobottega - una vez que descubrimos la entrada. Vimos a un empleado afuera y preguntamos cómo entrar. El lugar es muy moderno y fresco. La cena fue fantástica. Compartimos los aros de cebolla con muhammara, los ravioles de conejo, y la calabaza y las coles de Bruselas. Todo estaba delicioso. La muhammara con los aros de cebolla estaba deliciosa. ¡Todo lo era! El servicio era genial también.
