Ramengo In Reggio nell'emilia

I went for dinner one evening to try the vegetarian Gyoza. They were truly excellent! Congratulations!

First things first: it's a really cute place, it makes you think you're in Japan, but without forgetting you're in Reggio Emilia. The place is welcoming, spotlessly clean, and has the right touches without being too pushy or childish. Food: I wanted to try ramen, but last Saturday it was 35°C in the city and I didn't think it was appropriate. I ordered something from their summer menu: it was good, but it didn't quite express itself. I need to go back in the winter and try something more structured. However, the chef seemed like someone who knows his job and is committed. The waitress I interacted with was friendly. I'll definitely be back.

I came to Ramengo for the first time just yesterday with a friend, and I have to say that as a ramen restaurant experience, it was definitely a positive one! We ordered takoyaki as an appetizer, which wasn't bad (the only problem was the batter on the outside, which was a bit "pasty" on the palate), and for the main course, spicy ramen. In my opinion, the portion size was PERFECT, with all the ingredients tasting good, creating a nice balance. My only complaint was the marinated egg, which had a bit too much flavor in the yolk for my taste, but otherwise, it was delicious. The atmosphere was nice and attentive, as was the restaurant staff (super kind and patient). So, I absolutely recommend anyone looking for good ramen in Reggio Emilia to come visit and try Ramengo's dishes😋.

Delicious ramen! 🍜 The staff was friendly and quite fast despite the multitude of orders. The place is small: you can sit at the counter or at one of the few tables, which isn't a bad thing because it creates a very personal atmosphere (if it's not packed with people), and the decorations make the experience even more pleasant. (I recommend booking!!) The menu has just the right amount of dishes and variations: we tried the mochi (magnificent), the takoyaki, a bao, and, of course, the ramen (the marinated eggs were superb, among the best I've ever had). The only thing we weren't thrilled with was the sake, but we appreciated the fact that it was served in traditional glasses. Fair enough, at the end of the meal they even let us enter a Christmas raffle. We didn't win, but as a consolation prize, we received some cute Pikachu pins.

I saw another review saying the place had a strong anime vibe – honestly, not really. There are a few details here and there, but overall it feels more like a regular restaurant. We were really inspired by the reviews and expected more, but to be honest, we didn’t really get the vibe or the “wow” taste people were talking about. The meat was pretty average – one piece was very fatty, another had a lot of sinew, and the third was overcooked on one side but not on the other. Maybe we were just unlucky that day, but sadly we didn’t really enjoy it as much as we hoped. Out of all the dishes, the shrimp gyoza were definitely the highlight. Another surprise was the €2 per person service charge. That’s completely fine, but since we don’t speak Italian and weren’t given an English menu, we simply didn’t know about it beforehand. It was our first time experiencing that, so with every little thing the rating slowly went from 5 stars in our heads to more like a 3.

The gyoza was great, but the SHIO RAMEN BEEF and SHOYU PORK BELLY were disappointing in terms of meat quality.

Delicious food and really friendly staff. Much better than the chain ramen you find around!

Luca is Ramengo's extra edge in the kitchen. I rediscovered the taste of the ramen I ate while strolling around Tokyo. I especially recommend Luca's Ebi Gyoza and Bao. 👌
