We happened upon it by chance last year on August 15th. The dinner was fantastic, the service impeccable and, above all, courteous. We were even unsure about a starter, and the chef overheard it and had it brought over, offering it. We returned and enjoyed it just as much as the first time.

Historic restaurant in a central location. Discreet and professional service in a welcoming atmosphere. An à la carte menu with beautifully presented dishes and high-quality ingredients. An interesting wine list. A small private parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. Reservations are recommended.

19/05/2026: Yesterday May 18th we celebrated our wedding, a beautiful experience, the owners are wonderful people, they made us live a dream, thanks to Chef Patron Damiano Simbula and his wife Maura, thanks to all the restaurant staff
10/05/2026: We celebrated our in-laws' 60th wedding anniversary with a lovely group of relatives and friends. What can I say? Everything was perfect! An excellent lunch, with quality food, impeccable service, and a very refined, family-like atmosphere! A special thanks to Maura for her kind willingness to accommodate our needs! See you next time!

08/06/2026: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem in Varese! If you want to experience true local Italian hospitality, I highly recommend C’era una Volta Risto in Varese. The food is delicious, authentic, and incredibly good value — a full meal for only €13! The restaurant has a large and beautiful terrace, perfect for enjoying lunch or dinner, and everything is kept very clean, including the toilets. The service was excellent: everyone was kind, welcoming, and attentive. The water arrived immediately, the wine was served promptly, and the food came quickly. A special mention to the lovely Spanish waitress, who was friendly, professional, and always smiling. Great food, fair prices, fast service, and a warm atmosphere. If you’re in Varese and looking for a genuine local experience, this is definitely a place worth visiting. Highly recommended! 🇮🇹🍷🍝☀️
