Pizzeria Trattoria La Buca In Pisa

Absolutely delicious food, and nice wines by the glass. Had dinner here with a friend while visiting the city and we enjoyed the pasta dishes very much. The location is good, and is pretty at night as the outdoor seating is lit up beautifully. Downside on the atmosphere is that tables are very close to each other - it’s ok if you’re happy listening to your neighbours conversation or banging elbows with other diners, but I like a little bit more space. The service is very quick in terms of taking your order and then it was hard to get staff’s attention for anything else (we had quite an wait for another drinks order, and for getting the bill). Overall though a 4-star experience, it’s one of the better restaurants in a very touristy area.

The beef tartare was good. The beef steak was decent. The chianti superiore wine was good.

I came for lunch after our visit to the sites. It was a very hot day, but the outside area was shady and cool. I ordered a high spritz and a bruschetta. The bruschetta was one of the most delicious I've ever had. The service was excellent, and although I speak little Italian, everyone spoke English. I was a little worried after reading the reviews after I’d already sat down however I was not disappointed. The service was perfect, every staff member couldn’t do enough for you, polite and chatty. The food was fantastic, we ordered two simple dishes and they were fantastic. The puddings came quickly and same with the bill when requested. There is a cover charge per person but no tip was requested so that covered that

Located in the heart of the tourist hub around Piazza dei Miracoli, La Buca dei Miracoli turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After an exceptionally hot day, we were looking for little more than a shady spot and some refreshments. We sat in the partially shaded outdoor area, helped by artificial cooling, and opted for a light meal of bruschetta, cold cuts and beef tartare, accompanied by cold beer. I cannot comment on the restaurant's more elaborate dishes, but what we ordered was perfectly satisfactory. The service was prompt and friendly, making for a relaxing break from the crowds. Prices are on the high side, though perhaps not unexpected given the location. Overall, a better experience than one might anticipate from a restaurant in such a heavily touristed area.
