Pasta Chef - Street Food Gourmet In Roma

The cuisine offered at this restaurant has completely revolutionized my idea of carbonara. A brilliant chef, careful both to respect the traditional recipe and to add that touch of flair necessary to make his dishes unique. I then returned during my brief stay in Rome to try a lasagna... I won't deny that I was worried about receiving the usual mix of diced tomatoes and carrots (which, unfortunately, I've become accustomed to at many restaurants), but—even then—I was amazed: excellent consistency, showcasing all the flavors, and even the chef's signature. The service staff is incredibly friendly and well-trained in welcoming non-Italian customers. If I have to criticize this place, it's the "infinite" line you have to endure before entering the restaurant and getting a seat: first-timers might be tempted to give up and look for another restaurant. However, Chef Frigerio is truly a gentleman like few others, and so are his culinary choices.

An amazing experience. Family owned restaurant doing things differently, would absolutely go back when next in Rome. Off the beaten path, which makes this a gem to discover. Not trying to cater to the masses, but doing things amazingly. Be prepared to queue for a short time in busy periods as is normal for a great spot like this. Try all the dishes.

I like to break up these reviews in 2 parts. One is overall, and then the next my experience. Overall, the food is delicious. I was stuffed and when my food came out it was fresh. You could taste how fresh it was. My children even liked their spaghetti, which surprised me because they are very picky eaters. The wait was also not too bad and there were 5 of us in total (2 adults, 3 children all 5 and under). I was a taken back a little to find that table service is not done here, but the place is small enough that it isn't needed anyways. The decor is very well thought out, and staff is very welcoming. You'll find the host is fluent in many languages, and explains how their process without the table service works. Now the second part, because the place is so small, there is no restroom. You have to walk down the street and find a place to pay and use the toilets. I could see this being an issue for someone with small children who need access to a restroom, or in my husbands case, just someone who has to use the restroom. It's inconvenient, but also common in Rome so I would just recommend using the restroom being coming here. The reason I personally recommend a small party of 2 people coming here is due to the fact that the chairs are high like barstools. It gives more of a bar feel, and although there were families when we came, it didnt seem safe for smaller children. These are more of things I wish I knew before coming here just to better prepare, but no hate to the restaurant. They do a great job with service, and the food was phenomenal.

It was something absolutely unique. A tiny place, a few chairs spread out, a manager who knew the menu and spoke several languages. Delicious pasta.

had a yummy truffle pasta! the place is self service, it's not really a place to sit and have a long meal but for a quick stop on the way to have a yummy pasta it's great! I came around 1pm and there was a short line outside but it moved fast. the English level was good and the place is clean.

It was the most delicious pasta I've ever eaten. The staff took care of everyone individually, and they definitely went without hesitation. When they heard we were Turkish, they even asked if we had any pork sensitivities and recommended pasta accordingly.

We were incredibly satisfied with the service and the food itself. There was a small queue but it went quite fast. Coming in, a waiter explained the menu to us. We were seated immediately after ordering. The food came out quite fast as well. All of us ordered the carbonara pasta which was one of the best pasta dishes we've ever eaten. A traditional carbonara, a bit salty and with lots of pepper, which was advertised in advance, it was incredibly flavourful. At the end, the waiter came over to check how the meal was. An absolute must-visit if you're in the area, we'll definitely come back in the future.
