I was happy that the staff spoke to me in Japanese ☺️ Also, it was the most delicious lasagna and carbonara I've ever eaten. The atmosphere, the taste, and the service from the staff were all great.
The carbonara was rich in cheese and a bit salty, but that was also good.

We had an amazing experience at AL42. The food was absolutely incredible, every dish was full of flavor and prepared with such care. Chef Leopoldo Frigerio truly brings something special to the table with his creativity and respect for Italian tradition.
The service was just as outstanding. Massimo (I hope I got the name right), "the great" our host, was exceptional. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcomed from the moment we arrived.
Honestly, this was one of the best food experiences I had in Rome. I would 100% recommend this place. Whatever you order, you can be sure it will be delicious.

We were passing by in the Monti area, saw this restaurant (and it's queue) and decided to try it out.
Well worth a short wait - it has its own process, when you are called in the menu on the wall is explained, you make your selection and pay, and then you're shown to a table/high-top to wait until you're called to pick up your order.
My Pappardelle with Ragu was somewhat life-changing, the freshest most delicate pasta I've had, coated with a meat sauce (not tomatoey). I inhaled the pasta, it was that good.

The pasta we tried (pesto and shrimp) were not bad, but not spectacular either. Given the price range, the concept of making pasta available and affordable to everyone, and that the place not being regarded as a “restaurant”, I think the service etc is fine. Just judging from food quality and how much I like it personally, I found the queue and the hype hard to understand. If it’s a shop without any queue and hype, then things would be reasonable. I’ve enjoyed a lot from the top of Italian fine dining to a number of local Italian trattorias but this is not among them. Again, it’s not bad it’s just not great in my opinion and personal preference.

I can’t recommend enough. Starting from the food, which is just magical, to the most welcoming and lovely service. The place is like a small bar but don’t be discouraged by it if you like more of a fancy place. The smile of the people who works there, their hospitality is just grabbing your heart. And then stomach is filled with symphony of taste. We had carbonara, chicken, ribs and tiramisu and that just for 2 people.
Can’t recommend enough! Just go and enjoy!
