I had the Amatriciana and it was average: very little guanciale and okay-ish sause. The place itself is ok.
Maybe the other dishes are a better choice.

I've had quite a few pastas carbonara in my life - including within Italy and Rome itself - but Al42 has the best one I've tried, hands down. There's a reason this place has a line out the door, but the wait is absolutely worth it. The tiramisu was top tier as well. If you're visiting Rome, make sure to stop here.

Amazing little spot. There was a line but it moved quickly. Staff was super friendly and the food was insanely good - made even better by the great prices. I had the eggplant parm. Comfortable for solo travelers :)

Small establishment with magnificent cuisine and excellent service. It is not perfect because of the size that requires you to be very close together, on high stools and without a bathroom. But it is worth visiting and trying their exquisite al dente and very well seasoned pasta.

Amazing food! Short wait of about 20 minutes, we visited at 2.30 pm on a Saturday so to be expected. Ordered and paid for our food at counter, took a seat at a bar style table. Once our order number was called we collected our food. Ceaser salad was incredible. Also tried carbonara and the special which was tagliatelle with cream and sausage - this was actually the best pasta I have ever had! We shared a tiramisu and it was beautiful, creamy and not to sweet. Fairly priced, we were very happy customers. Will return. Thank you to all the staff and well done.

Fuimos un día a cenar con 2 niños y esperamos 5 minutos. Enseguida el jefe salió a saludarnos y a darnos indicaciones en español (porque este hombre habla un montón de idiomas). Nos explicó la carta y nos hizo recomendaciones. Comimos los auténticos carbonara romanos, deliciosos! La lasaña y la pasta con ragú buenísimos también. El trato es genial, muy cercanos y atentos a todo. Nos gustó tanto que la última comida antes de volver la hicimos allí. Muy bien de precio y te atienden rápido. Ojalá podamos volver a Roma para volver a visitaros. Gracias!!

En retrait des axes principaux de visite, ce petit établissement, met l'accent sur la succulence de ses préparations. Je n'avais jamais mangé des carbonara avant. C'est une redécouverte absolue...
